Now this is kind of funny, but Cooper sure knows how to pass people off

    Maclin Parts Ways With Agent

By Tim McManus | November 25, 2014 at 12:29 pm

Jeremy Maclin has terminated his contract with agents Ben Dogra and Jim Steiner, a representative of the NFL Players Association told Birds 24/7 Tuesday.

He is currently without representation. The move became official on November 20. By rule, a player must wait five days to hire a new agent. That means Maclin is clear to sign with another agent on Wednesday.

Maclin is scheduled to be a free agent at the end of the season. Coming off ACL surgery, he opted for a one-year, $5.25 million deal this offseason rather than taking a team-friendly multi-year deal. The idea was to bet on himself and so far the move is paying off. The 26-year-old has 63 catches, 980 yards and nine touchdowns through 11 games. He ranks seventh in yards, fourth in TDs and seventh in catches of 20-plus yards (16). He has not been charged with a single drop, per Pro Football Focus.

Maclin's contract status was brought up this week by fellow wide receiver Riley Cooper, who was asked about how the snaps at receiver are being doled out.

"Maclin's trying to get a contract so he's probably not going to try and come out of the game," Cooper said, later adding: "
"Im supposed to sub every four or five plays, and that's what I do," he said. "Maclin I guess, he's a lot better player than me so he doesn't have to sub."

Maclin didn't seem amused that his teammate was talking about his contract in the first place.

"That was not a very smart thing of Coop to say," said Maclin.

Is it true that he doesn't rotate out because he is in search of a new deal?

    "No," he said.

Dogra was recently terminated by powerful talent agency CAA earlier this month. A player can remain with an agent even if the agent changes companies. It's unclear whether Dogra's departure from CAA and Maclin's decision to move on from him are related.

Yea it isn't Cooper's place to say anything about Maclin's contract. Doesn't matter what you feel it just doesn't help build relationships to start talking about it in the media. If he wants to talk to the coach about his playing time he should do that and not go anywhere else.
Cooper should just be happy he got what he got.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
    Hope is not a strategy
    RIP

I agree, but I'll bet Cooper probably said it tongue in cheek and the reporter ran to Maclin with it. Still, Coop can really piss people off.

True, but that is why you really shouldn't even joke about anyone's contract when talking to reporters. They'll make a story out of it somehow.

He's right about Maclin being "a lot better than me". They're not in the same time zone. And is Cooper going out every 4th or 5th play or just playing once every 4 or 5 plays. His production would suggest the latter.

But Mike I suspect you're right. He must not be very smart. You just DO NOT say shit like that about teammate even if your joking. Copper is being WAY overpaid for what he producing on the field and should keep any thought he has about Maclin to himself.

I believe Jackson's presence had much to do with Cooper's success last year. I'll be glad when we have a legitimate #2 WO. (We probably already have one in Mathews.)

He's miscast, tino. I never thought Riley would be a great outside WR. I DID
think he would become the answer we had been looking for as a red zone target. Last year he certainly benefitted by having DJax on the other side, and he was often overlooked and made some big plays. Great. Whatever. That does us no good NOW.

Mathews is developing quickly, and if Huff comes along, and I have stated it before, Riley will find himself phased out of this offense altogether. Good blocking or not.

Cooper should have already learned to keep his mouth shut.

someone needs to shut his mouth for him
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

Cooper's gloves must not have that sticky stuff on them.

Cooper is a racist idiot who was extremely over paid last summer and needs o shut the hell up and not remind the front office what an ass-hat he is. He'll be off the roster in another 2 seasons so he won't have to worry about anything related to contracts or playing time soon.

He could be gone after this season, especially if he doesn't redo his deal. It's not like we're going to break the bank for one of our QBs anyway so we could take the cap hit. He himself was a 1 year wonder, and actually a second half of the season wonder who gagged in the playoffs anyway. If he doesn't step it up big time the rest of this season he may be flipping burgers someplace next season. If Lurid has enough of his act, see ya Riley.

Cooper is average on the field and sucks as a teammate

his days as an Eagle are numbered

until then, we will hear how great he is as a blocker. yippee
