Any deal for Sam right now has to be for at least a number 1. The Eagles have their plan for this year in order to change that plan they would have to be blown away.

Not just Bennie they could be active in free agency again next year. They are 11 mill or so under the cap this year. They are only projected at a million under next year but that does not include the 11 million rollover. Plus Jason Peters is due 11,200 so they could save another 9 million by letting go of their then 35 year old left tackle. Now he may come back but it won't be at that salary.

So they went from being over the cap for 2017 and having to cut Peters to get under to being in a positive cap situation and not having to make the Peters move although they will.

Apparently being suspended for PEDs means that 1) you lose all future guaranteed money, so his big guaranteed $$$ might be lost, 2) obviously he doesn't get his salary for the 10 games which is credited to the current year (very small base salary this year so that will be small), and 3) I've read that teams are *required* to claw back prorated signing bonus for PED-suspended games -- and if it's 10 games that will be over 3 million for Johnson, which gets credited to the team's cap the next year (so 2017).
