  • NFL player poll: most overrated

Who is the most overrated player in the NFL?

[Based on a survey of 361 NFL players]
    Terrell Owens, Cowboys.....10%
    Brian Urlacher, Bears.....8%
    Ray Lewis, Ravens.....7%
    Michael Vick, Falcons.....7%
    Eli Manning, Giants.....4%
    Keyshawn Johnson, Panthers.....4%
    Peyton Manning, Colts.....4%
    Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers.....3%
    Charles Woodson, Packers.....3%
    Warren Sapp, Raiders.....3%

Giants QB Eli Manning and Panthers WR Keyshawn Johnson tied for fifth (4.1%).... TO won the poll for best wide receiver in the NFL (SI PLAYERS, Oct. 16).... Urlacher is third in the NFC with 54 tackles; Lewis is 11th in the AFC with 50.... Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger got only 3.4% of the overall vote but 10% within his own AFC North.... In an accompanying SI PLAYERS poll that asked players to name the most underrated player in the NFL, voters picked Falcons RB Warrick Dunn (2.7%) and also cited Seahawks RB Shaun Alexander, Chiefs QB Trent Green, Colts WR Marvin Harrison and Steelers WR Hines Ward (2.4% each).

I hate Sapp, but I don't know if I'd called him overrated. He's just old, and I think most everybody forgets he's even still playing except when he's in ads on the NFL network.

To me Eli is the most overrated. That little shit can;t even throw a spiral, and gets away with throwing wounded duck jump balls to his freakishly tall WR. I just don't think he's even in the top half of QBs in the league. He's got some guts, I'll give him that, but he just seems to get away with sloppy play time and time again.

Vick is definately overrated, but he is damn fast, and he at least forces defenses to adjust to him.

I think TO is a very good player, but the media has created this aura around him like he can single handedly win a game. I don't think any WR can do that. Its interestng that there isn't a single running back on that list.

I wouldn't call Keyshawn overrated anymore because I think we all agree that he's a glorified possesion receiver at best.

I don't think Peyton deserves to be on the list. The man is damn good.

Eli Manning is a fraud with a capital "F"

The Giants with Peyton Manning would be silly good.

6-2 is a mirage for them.

It's especially telling, since the players themselves voted. It would have been great if they had it broken down by which position players voted for whom. (Then we could know if other d-linemen hated Fatty Sapp.)

I wouldn't call Sapp overated. He is still pretty good for his age.

I think Vick is the most overrated, but that is starting to change. Eli is overrated because he has a good offensive line, a good running game, and a receiver in Plax who he can just lob the ball up to and get a TD or a PI call every time.
