Do not forget the TD burn in the Houston game by Moulds...

Fresh, as I stated in an above post, perhaps he was not given enough chances (how many do players usually get or deserve?) and perhaps he feels like they did not show him the proper love etc., but why make it a public attack?

Again, why do players take shots as they leave? Is it to save face? Is it to try and paint the team as the bad guy? Is it because they are upset they have to change homes and learn a new system with a new team?

I do not know, but IMO it does not show Lewis in the best light just like it did not with Vincent and Welbourn and Emmons and Hugh and most of the rest....the only one I can remember who was all class was Duce and that counts with me...I love Duce and always have...

Lewis had definite problems in pass coverage and put the team in bad situations at least 5-6 times this season alone...he was not great in 2005 either...even then the Eagles used him as a LB hybrid where they could and gave Considine a shot....wasn't that what most of us were calling for at the time? That JJ and Reid make some changes to jumpstart the defense and put people on notice....it worked for the most part and Considine did show some skills IMO...his problem is run defense and will need to bulk up to get stronger...we will see if he can.
Eliminate distractions, create energy, fear nothing, and attack everything.

Gotta add, a few months ago, I saw NFL network re-airing the NO game. I saw the last couple quarters. After Joe Horn caught that long pass for the TD, they showed a side by side replay. It was Horn pulling that double-move on two different pass plays. One of the plays was the one against Lewis, who bit on the move and got burned for a TD. The other double-move was done against Lito Sheppard, who didn't bite on the move, and the pass fell incomplete.

F you Lewis, we gave you a chance in the 2nd round when most people were afraid your heart condition was going to affect your play.

Now we know your heart condition wasn't medical in nature...

I can believe that the FO was a little miffed when he didn't take an extension, and maybe Reid did give him the cold shoulder afterwards, but if he thinks that's the reason he got benched, he's delusional.

What's strange to me is where he says that he was never able to talk to Reid or JJ.

Huh? You can't talk to your coaches? Since when?

While not defending Lewis's comments and I agree that his pass coverage was exposed as lacking, what kind of defense puts a strong safety alone against Terry Glenn and Joe Horn. In both cases, Dallas and NO exploited a matchup that was clearly in their favor. I put equal blame on JJ for bad coverage calls.

If SF plays Lewis in the box and focuses on the run, he will be fine, although I don't see a Pro Bowl in his future. For us, Sean Considine is basically the same player at a lower price, so I am OK with that change. Playing Mikell more will also be a plus.

Cover 2/ Tampa 2....both safetys have have deep responsibility. But, the idea is for them to be far enough back from the LOS that the WRs can't get behind them. So, it is important for the SS/FS to not bite on play fakes, or cheat the LOS, because it gives the WRs an opportunity to run past them, which is what happened with Lewis on more than one occasion.

I can certainly see his point of view. Then again, he's overlooking the fact that he was a liability on passing downs. One thing is for sure-Considine is not much of an answer at SS. He gets run over often. It's a problem position for the Birds right now.
