Now that we are 12 I think we need to take a good look at who we would be OK with that this spot:

First off, we know that Lawrence, Wilson, Fields, and Lance are all going to be gone by 12. There is a pretty good chance I think that Mac Jones goes too although I think it would be a reach.

So let's look a bit further

    Ja'Marr Chase
    Penei Sewell
    Kyle Pitts
    Micah Parsons
    Jaylen Waddle
    Devonta Smith

Is the rest of the top 10.

    And then we get to:
    Caleb Farley
    Kwity Paye
    Rashawn Slater
    Patrick Surtain

To me the only way we get burnt here is if we are forced to take Farley because with the back issue he is not a sure thing. If we end up with Rashawn Slater I think I'd be OK with that. He seems like a very athletic option to be either a LT or a G long-term. It is not sexy but it will likely be a position of need with Kelce retiring next year and Isaac moving to Center.

I would love to be staring at Surtain, Waddle, and Smith and have our pick of that group at 12. I'd be OK with any of those guys at 12.

Almost ever year there are curveballs in picks 5-15 so it is possible that a guy like Kwity Paye, Mac Jones, Christian Darrisaw, or Jaelan Phillips sneaks up in the draft ahead of the 12th pick and I'd love to see that because other than maybe Paye I don't want any part of any of those guys.

My dream remains that somehow the Birds swing a deal and move back up to 8 or 9 and draft Kyle Pitts but I just don't think that is likely.

So Waddle, Smith, or Surtain would be a helluva consolation prize. And as I said in another thread, I would be OK with Parsons too. But, if we could get Surtain and then Jabrill Cox in round 2 that would be quite an addition of youth and talent to the back 7.

You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

I see that Waddle has a position ranking behind only Chase, and is the eighth overall prospect. Using this chart/metric, the Eagles would benefit from his selection. Farley: Does this ranking account for his recent surgical procedure? Is he still considered CB1, with Surtain being CB2 or would you say that their positions have flipped?

Mac Jones QB 5 : lots of buzz around this guy. How much is just smoke? Could the Niners or Pats be looking at him? Niners picking him would be a surprise and would push yet another talent down, giving the Eagles more options.

If the Pats want this guy, would they call the Eagles about a trade-up to 12 from 15? I dont' know if I'd want the Eagles to drop to 15 or not, even with the prospect of extra pick(s)....

The only thing I was say 60 is that there very well could be three players the Eagles really like at 12; any of which they would be happy with. In that case I trade back. Give NE 12 and 70 for pick 15 and 46

It's New England, they are gonna work for our #12 if it's me in charge
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

I'm hoping that they move up 2 or 3 spots and grab one of the top receivers instead. Then there is this to really spice up the roster if the ferret doesn't totally blow the draft which of course a distinct possibility:

                Paul Domowitch

As much as it pains me to give Howie Roseman credit for anything, this trade gets a hearty thumbs up from me.

Yeah, moving down from 6 to 12 in this year’s draft means they’ve kissed any chance of getting LSU wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase or Florida tight end Kyle Pitts goodbye.

But they’ve added another first-round pick in next year’s draft in addition to a fourth-round pick next month, and there still are going to be a lot of very good players for them to choose from at 12.

If they stay at 12 — which probably is unlikely given Roseman’s insatiable appetite for draft picks — and walk away with DeVonta Smith or Patrick Surtain or Alijah Vera-Tucker or Travis Etienne — they’ll get a thumbs up from me.

The Eagles have four of the first 84 picks and five of the first 123 in this draft. This is the first time they’ve had four picks in the top 85 since 2005, and the first time they’ve had five in the top 125 since 2012. Add in 3 #1s next year and we should be able to build a pretty good team if Hurts doesn't flame out.

On Minny sports radio this morning they are talking the Vikes looking at a QB to replace Cousins next year. If NE is looking for a QB they will have to move up to jump in front of Minny to get one of the top five. That can only bode well for the birds

Somebody needs to take this list, hand it to Howie and tell him to stop overthinking this. 40 kids on this list are SEC/Big10/Clemson. Stop shopping anywhere elsewhere. Best football, best players and best programs. Follow the studs and follow the money being put into building these kids up. Watch film and not pro-days. You are not going to outsmart other teams.

A top three wide receiver should be available to the Eagles at pick 12

                      MARK J. REBILAS/USA TODAY SPORTS
                      Alabama WR DeVonta Smith

Before the Philadelphia Eagles traded back from pick No. 6 to pick No. 12, mock drafts commonly had them picking a wide receiver, whether that be LSU's Ja'Marr Chase, or either of the two Alabama receivers, DeVonta Smith or Jaylen Waddle.
Now that they have moved back to pick 12, there's a pretty good chance that at least one of those three receivers will still be available. How's that, Jimmy? Glad you asked. Let's unpack it.

With the San Francisco 49ers moving up from pick No. 12 to pick No. 3, we're all on the same page that they're going to take a quarterback, right? So on that premise, the top three picks are likely to be quarterbacks:
                      1. Jaguars: Quarterback, probably Trevor Lawrence
                      2. Jets: Quarterback, probably Zach Wilson
                      3. 49ers: Quarterback, whether that's Trey Lance, Justin Fields, or Mac Jones.
Let's go team by team thereafter and first look at their wide receiver depth charts, followed by analysis on whether they're likely to take a receiver or not:
                      Pick Team WR1 WR2 WR3
4 Falcons Julio Jones Calvin Ridley Russell Gage
5 Bengals Tee Higgins Tyler Boyd Auden Tate
6 Dolphins DeVante Parker Will Fuller Preston Williams
7 Lions Breshad Perriman Tyrell Williams Quintez Cephus
8 Panthers D.J. Moore Robby Anderson David Moore
9 Broncos Courtland Sutton Jerry Jeudy KJ Hamler
10 Cowboys Amari Cooper Michael Gallup CeeDee Lamb
11 Giants Kenny Golladay Darius Slayton Sterling Shepard
Pick 4, Falcons: Atlanta could be shopping for an eventual replacement for Matt Ryan. But even if they don't go quarterback, they already have Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley. Their No. 3 receiver, Russell Gage, had 72 catches for 786 yards and 4 TDs in 2020. Highly unlikely to take a receiver.

Pick 5, Bengals: Tee Higgins had a good rookie season and Tyler Boyd is a nice No. 2, but the Bengals could certainly use another receiver, and Joe Burrow would love to have old LSU friend Ja'Marr Chase with him in Cincy. However, Burrow took a beating last year before he was eventually lost for the season with a torn ACL. They have to prioritize protecting him. Moderate chance the Bengals draft a wide receiver.

Pick 6, Dolphins: DeVante Parker and Will Fuller are both in Miami on moderately priced contracts. They also have Preston Williams, who was having a decent year before being lost for the season with a foot injury. Moderate chance the Dolphins draft a wide receiver.

Pick 7, Lions: Marvin Jones and Kenny Golladay are both gone, and frankly, it was difficult even deciding who their top three receivers are currently. The Lions are clear threats to take a receiver.

Pick 8, Panthers: D.J. Moore and Robby Anderson both went over 1,000 yards for the Panthers in 2020, and they added David Moore (35-417-6 with Seattle last year) in free agency. They also have far bigger needs, namely quarterback and offensive line. Unlikely to take a receiver.

Pick 9, Broncos: Courtland Sutton had a great first two seasons in 2018 and 2019, before tearing an ACL in 2020. He'll be back, and the Broncos also drafted Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler in the first and second rounds last year. Highly unlikely to take a receiver.

Pick 10, Cowboys: The Cowboys weren't expecting CeeDee Lamb to fall to them last year, but when he did, they said, "Screw it, let's take him." That made sense last year. It wouldn't make sense to take a fourth receiver at pick No. 10 this year. Highly unlikely to take a receiver.

Pick 11, Giants: The Giants paid bigtime money to Kenny Galloday and took a flier on John Ross in free agency, and they already have good pass catching weapons in Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard. Highly unlikely to take a receiver.

And for good measure, if you look at the the teams immediately behind the Eagles in the draft order, you have the Chargers (Keenan Allen, Mike Williams) at 13, and the Vikings (Adam Thielen, Justin Jefferson) at 14. They would both be extremely unlikely to trade up for a wide receiver.
Assuming three wide receivers don't go in the top 7 picks (that feels like a pretty safe assumption), one of Chase, Smith, or Waddle should still be available.

60- I'm certain a top of the line elite receiver will be there at pick 12, esp if you include Pitts as one; however, I won't be at all surprised to see defense as the first pick, In fact, if Mac Jones is still there when the Eagles are on the board I won't be surprised to see them drop back to 14 or 15 if NE or MN think the Eagles might draft QB. If I could trade 12 and 150 to NE for 15, 96, and 139 I would do it.

I really do see your point ND, I just don't like playing with fire. I know that new coaches always want to clean house and bring in their own players so the extra picks are nice. On the other hand our FO is so screwed up that they even pick half of his assistants for him, never mind pick his own players. I can see friction before the season even starts. Think about this; have you ever heard of a team firing both their coach and franchise QB at the same time before??? And now I'm supposed to trust him again on draft day? One thing for sure is that Whoie isn't going to sit on his hands on draft day and that is always a scary, nerve wracking option that you always can count on. Don't get used to seeing coach Nick around for long because as long as this meddling owner and arrogant GM are here we're just spinning our wheels. How the hell did this franchise ever win a SB?

If the Eagles move up to take Kyle Pitts using maybe a third round pick I will have zero issue with it. I want Kyle Pitts. He is the best player in the draft.

Ja'Marr Chase reportedly ran a 4.38 and had a vertical of 42. That is more explosive than they had him at. I don't think Chase is going to be a bust. I think he has a great chance to be an Antonio Brown, Davante Adams type of talent. I would have been OK if we got him at 6. Think there is a pretty good chance he goes to Atlanta at 4 now maybe. Or a team trades up in front of Miami and Detroit to get him.
