Jerry Jones asks judge to toss paternity suit against him

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones asked a judge to toss a paternity suit against him, arguing that the woman suing him breached a settlement agreement to not publicly say he is her father, Nataly Keomoungkhoun of the Dallas Morning News reports. THis according to a recent court filing.

The May 31 filing in Dallas County responded to a paternity lawsuit filed April 20 by 25-year-old Alexandra Davis to legally establish parentage between herself and Jones. In the petition, Davis said she wants genetic testing to verify the parent-child relationship.

In the court filing, obtained Thursday by The Dallas Morning News, Jones’ lawyers asked the case be dismissed with prejudice, which means they want the judge to say the lawsuit can’t be refiled. Jones denies in the court filing he is Davis’ biological father.

Jones would not be subjected to genetic testing if the paternity lawsuit is dismissed.

“I think it’s interesting that he’s trying to avoid taking the DNA test,” said Jay Gray, an attorney for Davis. “To me that says a lot. Why would you try to fight a DNA test with someone who’s alleging to be your daughter? I just don’t get it.”

A lawyer for Jones and Jim Wilkinson, a spokesman for the Jones family, declined to comment.

We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.
