Had us trading #10 to the Bucs for #19,50, 153
we then trade #19 to the Vikes for #23 and 87

we select Kancy DT and Branch S and still have 50, 62,87,94,153,219 and 248
    seems like Howie type stuff
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

I would do that in a HEARTBEAT. Once you get past the top 15 players, the rankings are all over the place. Most years, including this one, players in the 20-100s are fairly equal and it is a beauty in the eye of the beholder thing so the more picks you can have in the top 100 the better.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

I could definitely see those. In the first trade, I'm sure Howie would try to get one of Tampa's 6th rounders as well -- that trade is about spot on the NFL points chart, and if you are trading up for a QB you typically pay more, so Howie might be able to get even more than that (though not lots).

Not sure about trading down a second time, but also possible. That feels more like getting cute, if you have a desired target there at 19 and risk losing them. That trade is a bit of an overpay by the Vikings, but not entirely sure we'd do it, depending on how many possible targets are left on the board.

We may not want to trade out of the teens much, to have a chance at that next tier of picks after the near-sure-fire studs, but Kancy may be one of that tier.

Not a fan of Kancy too small, boom or bust type prospect. yeah yeah yeah same size of Aaron Donald but there is only one Aaron Donald and he plays in a base 4-3 defense. We are playing more of a 4-4 or 5-2 type defense based off of a 3-4. So I just don't see where Kancy would fit.
Branch is a projection to safety. he played 80% of his snaps in the slot. Can he make that switch. Probably but...

Are you willing to to take your two first round picks, one of which is a premium pick in 10 and turn it into a a boom or bust who really doesn't fit your system and a corner convert?

I will give them credit they have Howie pegged and I could see him doing something similar to this as far as trade backs go. Just not sure those are the right players in that scenario.

height wise Kancey is short, but Williams is only 10 lbs heavier. The explosion can't be denied, his strength is pretty impressive and both those make him very interesting on a team full of guys requiring a double team. Line him up next to Davis and things could be interesting. His strength, quickness and explosion make him a human missile on stunts, which is something the Birds employ often. Those same traits make him the perfect type later in a game on a team that comes at you in waves.
Branch has the versatility the Birds like, has played quality receivers, been in huge games, played for 'bama and did so with a high level of success.
Guess both these players require due diligence and I expect the Birds have done their homework. Can't wait to see this pan out. Gonna be a slow 2 weeks

First of all we have a new defensive coordinator so we don't have any base Defense yet. As far as last year went They were hybrid all over the place. You don't put numbers on that, you just give different people different responsibilities other than their usual vanilla stuff the position The position calls for. If you want a speed guy to replace Hargrave like MM said go for it. Nobody knows what the defensive coordinator has in his head for this year's team.

Absolutely true Eagles60 but we do have his Bears defensive tape to look at from 21. Desai runs a similar defense to Gannon, he is dare a say a little bit more aggressive. Now that could have been personnel based but we at least have an idea of his tendencies. I am not against Kancey, I just don't like taking boom or bust guys that high in the draft. Sometimes they work out like Devonta Smith (at his size he was boom or bust) and sometimes they don't like Jalen Reagor. I think at 10 we are going to be looking at a Pro Bowl caliber player especially if 4 QB's go. I just don't want to trade back from that to take a couple of projections
