  • Draft Hope

Four QBs and a run on RBs, WRs, and even CBs. Push down talented DL Edge TEs OL so Howie has his choice in a talented pool.
If that doesn’t happen and Cleveland doesn’t take a QB at two I hope there is still a couple talented QBs available when the birds pick so someone like NYG wants to jump ahead of them and trade for pick 32
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
    Hope is not a strategy

The Birds are the next hot thing. I see a few GMs going for line talent on both sides of the ball to be just like us
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

That’s my fear. If they all do that in the first I hope one of those early QB needy teams want to trade up. We have plenty of draft picks the next two years but you can always use more.

Those things come to fruition you are still picking at number 32 So while the top players are going to be gone and you just have to face that. I think at that point you should really just look at BPA and get the extra year out of him If he turns out to be a decent player. The odds of that 32 player contributing in a major way this coming season are probably about 5% anyway. You are looking for a player that has a chance to start in 27.

Howie is going to trade up in the first round. We have 20 picks the next 2 drafts. Why draft a bunch of players you will have to cut or throw to the practice squad wolves ? This is the perfect situation to make a bold move. If they can draft 2 starters, it's over for the NFC for a few years

That very well could be the strategy because Howie very seldom moves down in the draft. The problem is that most of those picks Are in the lower part Of the draft and don't have A heck of a lot of trading power.

In my opinion, looking at the roster, If we added just for shits and giggles I'll say Tyler Warren to the offense and say Jaylen Reed to the defense, this team would be set for a while. Next year we have enough comp pics to have a decent draft. I'd be willing to use all the other picks in the next 2 drafts to get 2 really good players and add them to what is here.

Lot of picks but not a lot of extras for moving up. Four 5th rounders are better traded for future years but can help a little this year for living up. Birds have three in third rounders next year and two fourth rounders along with extra 5s. They could use those thirds to help this year and use a couple 5s from this year to backfill a 3 or 4 next year I suppose.
I agree with main thought though that he needs at least two guys who can help next year with two more that are good depth for future.

                  I think either we:

                  1. Draft right at 32 nd take the BPA on the offensive or defensive lines.
                  2. We trade up into the early 20s and get an edge rusher or DT that we have targeted.
                  3. Get lucky and trade back.

The fifth year option at 32 is what makes that pick more valuable especially for a QB prospect. Tyler Shough the kid from Louisville has all the measurables but he is 24 years old which is pushing him down draft board. Still, I think a team in need of a QB would be willing to trade up from the early second round to get him.

I was talking to my buddy this week who covers the Bills. He said his prediction is Ward goes first to the Titans, Sanders goes in the top 10. He is falling but the stuff about going to the Saints at nine makes a lot of sense. Jaxson Dart the kid from Ole Miss is going to go in the top 20-25 picks he thinks. And then Shough is moving up. He also thinks Milroe will go in the top 50 only because teams are so desperate for QBs. This plays really well into the Birds hands.

We will NOT take a QB this year because there simply is not room on the roster for one. We have 3 QBs who if there are no injuries will all be on the opening day roster.

The Birds could shock us and take a TE at 32. That Mason Taylor kid from LSU is getting a lot of attention at about that spot. I wouldn't be against that I guess. We need a TE that can block and catch passes and I think he can do both. I would love Warren too but I just don't see it. TEs are so valued now in this league. He isn't going to make it out of the top 10.

You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

A TE at 32 wouldn’t shock me although DT is always high in Howie’s list. I think those first two picks will tell a lot about trading back. For whatever reason if they don’t go QB I think Howie will be getting offers for pick 32.
Agree with mm though. Hit on a couple players this year and life will be good in Philly for a couple years. The birds have a lot of picks the next two years which are needed to be able to move around when you are picking late every year.

We aren’t picking at #32. We will be top 20

I think you are right MM. I would think They will take a quarterback somewhere in in the draft because they traded Kenny Pickett to the Browns.
