Hoping that he can return to play again this season, the Redskins have decided not to place Randy Thomas on season-ending injured reserve following surgery Wednesday to repair a torn triceps.
"The doctors are saying 10 to 12 weeks," Thomas said. "If there's a [chance] of being able to play this year, I'm going to be there." Coach Joe Gibbs said Wednesday that "it's always hard" to keep an injured player on the active roster, but added that "certainly Randy is a guy we value a lot."
