  • Spikes failed his physical?

    http://www.usatoday.com/sports/footb...agles/home.htm

If you look toward the bottom it says,

    —LB Takeo Spikes (released/failed physical).

There is some WR and Lito talk too.

    this is pretty hysterical

—The Eagles gained $5 million in salary cap room with the release last week of linebacker Takeo Spikes. The Eagles' top four linebackers now — Chris Gocong, Omar Gaither, Stewart Bradley and Akeem Jordan — will earn a collective $1.63 million in '08, less than half of what Spikes would've earned.

In a couple more years they are going to have to put some money into the position. I see Gaither, Bradley and Gocong all getting nice raises if they keep getting better. I see no reason why they wouldn't keep getting better either.

$1.63 million is just crazy though.

I think GoCong and Gaither both get the Banner special midway through the season.

Well, I guess THERE is a place we can chew up some of this crazy cap room we have. But the only one that has proven anything to ME thus far is Gaither. I think it's be premature to extend the others.....it would be an absolutely blind contract in my eyes.

Bradley and Jordan are both only 2nd year players so they want get their deals until at least the middle the '09 season. Gaither almost definitely and GoCong possibly might get their deals through the '08 season.

If true, does this mean that the Eagles releasing him was about something other then being cheap asses and saving 5 mill??????????

I guess it's as reliable as THIS from that same piece: "Even before the Eagles signed Samuel, Sheppard had expressed unhappiness with his own contract"

                Short answer, "no".

Well, I'm not going to get deep into this whole thing again, if you feel ok with them paying a back up LB 5 mill, then hey, I'm sure not gonna change your mind cause we think differently.

And as far as Lito goes, again the only factual information I have is from people who have talked to Lito and quoted him, so once agaqin till I see or hear different, I take that info more seriously.

Lito himself and Sheldon quoting Lito both clearly stated that he had NO problem with Samuels contract. This is just another figment of the WIP imagination. They can never prove anything except their Negadelphian approach to Philly sports.

That's pretty much what I mean, people choose to believe what they will. I find neither the blip about Spikes nor the comment about Lito to have great credibility. Probably BOTH bogus.
