  • Your Official 2008 prognostication thread!!!!!!

As I head down to the beautiful city of Wildwood Crest, on my yearly sojourn for the month of September, this gives me time to pause and remind us of a very old cliche` ------ "Time waits for no man" ------ so in that vain here are a few more that are apropos this week-----------------------------------

Time to put up or shut up!
Time to not only talk the talk but walk the walk!
    Time to go all in!
Time to get off the fence!
    Time to pick a side!
Time to speak up and stop just lurking!
Time to show all your cards!
(OK OK enough of the dumb cliche`s)

OK Brother Eagle Fans, now is the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You've seen it all, everything that has taken place since last January, now decide and post how that translates into Eagles football in 2008!!!

Same rules as always--- no ifs ands or butts, no whining about this that or the other thing, no going back later and saying "well if I knew about this" ---- Right now, this week (thread will be closed before the start of the Rams game, whenever I can get to a puter) ------------------------------------------------

    Predict the 2008 Eagles season

You can do it game by game, or just an over all record. You can predict post season or not!

But every year we do this (and yes I still have all the results) and it gives us a good indication on how "WE" feel our team is going to perform this year.

And for all you lurkers, c'mon and let the rest of us know how you feel!

I'm goin all in at 11 and 5------------- Making the playoffs and having at least (minimum) 1 game at home and at least making the NFCCG!

(as you all know I won't predict past there, bad mojo for me)

    So wadda ya say??????????????????????

    MD,

I was going to say 11-5! But to avoid any appearance of mimicry, I'll go with 10-6...just too many "?s" (WR, health/age of the OL, depth of the DL, inexperience at LB, who's the FS, Special Teams, who's the FB, and Akers' mental state) to believe the Birds can go 12-4.

McNabb will stay healthy [-o< [-o< [-o< , we'll go in as a Wild Card, but do not get to the NFCCG!

Well now, tino took my answer. 10-6. A divisional win in the playoffs. A step in the right direction here and a last hurrah for some of our vets that are headed for greener pastures (retirement).

Also I will note that I will not be happy with this result and will still bitch about winning it all. But this is what I expect form this team, as it stands. I think that if Donovan proves to be back and healthy, and we have some experience for the youth on this team, that 2009 will be when you really see us step up.

10-6, minor success in the playoffs, and another long offseason full of FRESH gripes.....TIMES YOURS!!!

I think the O has potential to score 30+ a game. I think the D has the potential to be a dominate D,but they will need 4-6 games to get "there". I'm gonna give my standard 12-4 answer . STs are going to change things for AR. Starting field position will be the biggest. I can see Jackson or Demps breaking one to midfield or around the 40 and AR will go deep more than in the past. Rocca will bury teams inside the 10 and the D will pin back their ears and go for blood.I wish the season started today. Buy your SB package now.
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

12-4 and at least make it to the NFCCCG.

This defense is going to be sick.

Our STs are looking like they did 3-4 years ago.

And the offense is extremely under rated. You don't need a true #1 WR when you got a guy like Westbrook catching passes out of the backfield. As long as Jackson can provide some stretch, the offense will put up points.

IF we stay healthy, this club is capable of being the best in the NFC. IF Abiamiri and Curtis get back soon as now seems possible, we could go 12 and 4 and go to the SB. I think with all the young talent we have, we should be a much better team the farther we go into the season. Peaking late is an Andy basic and this year should be a great example.

Agree, Dutch. If we can weather the storm early, this team should be strong late.

Get back Curtis and VA, LB's learn to gel, Jackson improves, etc. Regardless of the outcome, we should be a stronger team in December than we are in September.....provided decent health.

C'mon folks, read them rules....no ifs, ands or buts!

10-5 entering the final game vs. the Cowgirls with the division on the line. Eagles thrill the home crowd with a win, take the division at 11-5 and march into the playoffs.

What happens in the playoffs I never predict.

12-4, win the division, conference and league titles. (For the record, I'm not going to use the "S-B" words anymore since it seems to bring us bad luck. Ever since they renamed the Championship we've watched some other team take it home. From now on it's the League Title and it returns to it's rightfull place in Philadelphia, the land of Concrete Charlie.

Gotta go with 11-5. I'm feeling 12-4 is the right answer but I don't want to be right.

                            vs Stl W
                            at Dal L
vs Pit W (trap game for Pit betw @Cle & @Bal)
                            at Chi W (revenge game)
                            vs Was W
at SF L (edited when I realized this was the pre-bye game)
                            vs Atl W
                            at Sea W
                            vs NYG W
                            at Cin W
                            at Bal L
                            vs Az W
at NYG W (10 days off is NICE this time of year)
vs Cle L (most frustrating game of the year)
at Was W (Was long gone from contention by now)
vs Dal W (to clinch NFCEast & home field)

So i guess that's 12-4 through my green shaded glasses. Watching the offense start a series inside Jets territory on Thursday night has reminded me that special teams effect everything in the NFL. Improved starting positions and the occaisional points for both offense and defense will be the story of this season for us.
