  • I have some concerns

I can't think of a single defensive player who earned his money out there tonight. Darren Howard was pretty good -- why was he on the field so infrequently?

The safeties are terrible, and that includes Dawk. Hurts me to write that. The Cowboys attacked the middle of the field over and over, and nobody had an answer in green. Considine blew the first TD to Owens, big-time. Got hammered by two blockers on the Felix Jones kick return for a TD as well. He's not very good. But Dawk isn't anymore, either.

Did Sheldon Brown get benched? The Cowboys picked on him throughout the first half and Lito was out there manning up TO for much of the second. Might be time to move Sheldon to safety.

Pass rush was spotty. Some breakthroughs, but too far up the field and Romo was able to step up and make plays. The linebackers were nothing special.

    JJ was curiously passive.

The offense played pretty good football, but Donovan spit the bit at the end, IMO. Some bad handoffs, one that Westbrook recovered and one he didn't. One bad third down overthrow to an open Westbrook. Some curious decisions on the last drive.

Reminded me of the JAX game a few years ago when he threw up -- I think Donovan was tired out there in the second half and it impacted his decision-making and execution. I'm going to give him a pass, it's early in the season and anybody would be tired after spending a game with DeMarcus Ware in your face. But I think fatigue was a factor for Donovan tonight.

The WR's dropped too many passes, IMO. Jackson's error would have been infamous had Westbrook not scored. He'll never do that again. The o-line was good in the first half, but struggled to protect Donovan in the second half.

    Any word on Shawn Andrews?

mikell played a hell of a game .. gocong looked good at times. other than that, very disappointing on the defensive side of the ball. outplayed and jj was outcoached big time.

the run D looked solid, but if you can't stop the pass it does you no good.

Mikell did play well and Gocong had a good game. Good points there.

Don't all humans get tired? Dallas's defense looked like it was sucking wind when we handed them the ball at their own 30. And if you want to pick on something, how about allowing a long field goal with Dallas getting the ball at 39 secs to go in the first half? Jason Witten with a 40yd gain, the last 10 of which is dragging defenders? That said, we had the ball close to midfield with 2mins to go and did zilch. Team loss, as they usually are, but the 2 fumbles were not good (even tho we recovered from the first).

          LT, I couldn't agree more.

Dawkins is a shell of what he once was. Hell, he doesn't even make the tackles anymore, much less rattle some teeth. And it is sad to see him try to cover a receiver. He is more than one step slow - it is more like two or three.

I have been saying it for a long time - Sheldon Brown should be moved to safety. Cripes, he would probably be All-Pro at that position.
Considine is a liability and shouldn't even be on the field.

            Re: I have some concerns

Mikell, Gocong, Patterson and Brown had good games I thought...but yes not enough from the other guys and the LB and S in particular got picked on in pass coverage

JJ looked passive because the Cowboys were executing at a high level and staying out of the down & distances where our blitzes could take full advantage. It is very hard to blitz with any success when the offense you are facing is in 2nd and 4 or 3rd and 3 most of the night. They also did a good job picking up the blitzes we did run and also negated out front 4 by doubling Cole (who was already facing Adams who is huge) and holding down the middle well. We missed Abiamiri tonight.

I concur that Mikell had a real good game and Gocong, Bunkley and Patterson also played well.
I just don't know what they are doing with the 3 pro bowl caliber corners they have. The girls have owens and then Crayton (who is ok) and then Witten (who is as good as they get) but who after that. No one. Yet I saw safties and LBs far too often in coverage. I'm not sure they are getting as much as they should be out of those three and I'm guessing it is by the way they are using them not by their performance.
