  • Feliz is the man!!!

With all the sluggers in this lineup who find it next to impossible to give themselves up with runners on 3rd, Feliz leads the team with RISP.

    80 RBIs for a #7 hitter...not so bad!

But no single tonight! He rips a first pitch fast ball into the seats for a slam. Given the way this offense has been sleep walking, especially against this Punch and Judy Astro team, that may have been the biggest clutch hit of this season.

    to Pedro!!!

He's doing a fine job of insuring the Phils pick up that $5MM option for next season.

Despite last night's heroics, I'm not in favor of this. His OBP is awful and I think he's declining rapidly.

I would love for them to make a hard run at Chone Figgins, put him at 3B and at the top of the order. But they'll probably pick up Pedro's option.
Don't kid yourself Jimmy. If a cow ever got the chance, he'd kill you and everyone you cared about!

Figgins is going to get WAY overpaid this off-season (like in the Aaron Rowand gross overpayment category). Unless we pull off a trade, the free agent market for 3B pretty much stinks so Pedro for a year with his ++ defense hitting low in the order at $5MM is a palatable (albeit not ideal) situation.

Agree on Figgins getting overpaid. But he's such a perfect fit on this team, filling two needs -- third base and leadoff hitter. It's very tempting.

LT - I hear you. They really should move Rollins down to the #6 hole or so and bat Victorino (or even Utley for that matter) leadoff.

The other thing with Pedro is that he gets a $500K buyout if the option is declined so it in essence, it's spending $4.5MM on him.

How nice would it be to have a real leadoff hitter on this team?

Fully agree!!! Every team can't have a Zimmerman or a Wright--- I'll take Pedros glove anytime and his numbers for a #7 hitter any time.

Philly fans are understandably a bit spoiled when it comes to the hot corner. All Philly 3rd sacker pale when compared with Micheal Jack who was, for my money, the best all round that ever played the game. Rolen also set the bar pretty high. In his quiet, professional way Pedro gets the job done in the field and at the plate.

                          FWIW, to date:
                          Wright - 70 RBIs
Feliz - 80 RBIs and the highest BA with RISP on the team @ .381

People complain that he too often swings at the 1st pitch. Not many are complaining about that 1st pitch swing last night...given the way the Offense had been struggling and the collars were tightening, maybe the biggest hit of the season!
