Ok. Maybe I can say did you see:

    - NFC Championship game #1, #2, #3, #5 and the brilliant performance vs. Dallas this year?

He can't do it. Period. How many times do we have see the same thing before it's obvious?

MDFAN - we can disagree, that's cool - but McNabb has shown us everything he has. Some great, some good, some awful, some mind numbing.

Never a champion. Period. Not in Philly. Not in DC. Period.

He's a nice player. He'll throw for 3k and 25 TD's and the Skins will go 10-6 or some crap next year. They won't win a title. That's that.

Bottom line: Donovan McNabb's career as a professional football player cannot last indefinitely.

It can also be stated with a high degree of probability that the world has seen the best of Donovan McNabb. At 33 (34 in November), he isn't about to grow a new set of legs or suddenly develop an superbly accurate passing arm.

With that said, and with the fact that he only has one more year under contract, this is probably the best time for McNabb and the Eagles to part ways. He gets a very good chance to renegotiate his contract and possibly spark a resurgence in his career with a new coach and team. The Eagles get a chance to see if someone else who they've been nuturing can take the team to new levels. It may be experimental, but nothing stays the same. The world changes, people get older. Time to turn the page and look towards the future.

I agree with your analysis, BP, but I do think McNabb could win a title in the right situation, where he isn't asked to do so much. But we have definitely seen his best. He is on a Warren Moon downslide at this point.

I'm ok with the trade but let's not bash the man to make ourselves feel good. Is McNabb a top 15 QB in the league today? Is Kolb? Anyone who says DMac isn't a top 15 QB is lying to themselves and if you say you know Kolb is you are also kidding yourself. As I say I am good with it; I think it will pan out. But the skins are better today than they were Saturday. Are the birds---depends on whether the draft pans out. And while the birds do OK on draft day they aren't without failure. So, this is a wait and see thing. We could easily be watching McNabb in the NFCCG while the birds are golfing.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
          Hope is not a strategy

The wrath of Ike would be felt all over the world if we are watching McNabb in the NFCCG.

What if the game ends with him failing to rally the Redskins in the 4th quarter?

              Would that wrath be defused?

Nope... cause they would be there, and we wouldn't.

what if mcnabb failed to rally the skins to the super bowl in the nfc title game against the eagles? that would be sweat.

i agree. mcnabb is 34 years old next season. we have seen his best and his best just isn't quite good enough. he played well in some big games but he has played poorly in a lot of big games in the last 2-3 years. nfc title game in 2009. playoff loss to the cowboys. regular season loss to the cowboys. and the game that sticks out to me the most is the loss to the ravens last year. he looked truly awful in that game and got pulled and didn't really act on the field like he cared.

i'm just saying, we've seen the man's best and he isn't good enough. could he win a title somewhere.. .sure he could. if you put enough talent around me i could win a title. but the skins don't have that kind of talent. nor will they have that kind of talent in the next 2-3 years. they have too many holes and will spend next year digging out from the albert haynesworth deal.

so i think nothing really changes. we are still just as good on paper as anybody in the division even with kolb and i think next year will be a dog fight in the nfc east till the end.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.
