Who is Kolb gonna be on a short leash by?

    Reid? Doubtful.

Fans? I thought you hated the fans?

I see you salivating already at the chance to further tell us how stupid all the fans are for running McNabb out of town. You're so predictable.

I trust Reid but still need to be convinced.

I disagree. As long as Kolb shows something he will get at least two years. Unless he throws 20 INTS with 5 TD's.

The four year in the league thing doesn't mean much when you've only played a handful of games.

As far as PO's go I think the Eagles will make it IF the o-line can stay healthy.

Clearly superior is a lot to ask from a guy who is going into his first season starting.

What year was Aaron Rogers in when he took over? Third?

Forget Rodgers, Kolb has been waiting and is hungry and competent.

I will be glad to see some change in the offensive leadership.

Completely agree with this. Asking a guy to lead a team to the playoffs in his first full year as starter is asking way too much...especially with all the holes on D. Even Aaron Rodgers didn't do that in his first full year.

I just want to see Kolb progress. I fully expect a bumpy first half of the season, but would hope to see him really start to improve in the 2nd half of the season.

I think that most (well, intelligent) Eagle fans see it this way. Even if they miss the playoffs, if the team is showing a pulse and is winning more of its games by season's end, they'll probably be ok with it, at least for now.

I'm not ecstatic about him in the division but I think it is fair return. My odd logic is that the Skins have gone 3-9 in the division the last 2 years. They are 2-2 vs. the Birds and 1-7 vs. the Giants & Cowboys. I'm thinking with McNabb's familiarity that he'll be more successful vs. our other division rivals.

Also - don't sweat Mike Shanahan folks. He isn't creating a dynasty all of a sudden. He's won one playoff game as a coach since John Elway retired after the 1998 season.

Never said they had to make the playoffs. Just that Kolb has to be a playoff calibur QB by year's end.

Kolb will get at least two years, probably three.

He's seen significant action in exactly three games over the last three years. There will be growing pains and Reid understands this.

This may very well be the youngest team in the NFL by the time the season starts. A lot of rookies are going to get significant time and there will be many blunders and mistakes...all of which are part of the maturation process across the board.

                        Great post.

John Elway made Mike Shanahan more than Shanahan made Elway.

Shanahan is just the latest in a string of glamor coaches who have fizzled under Danny Boy (Schottenheimer, Spurrier, and Gibbs).

And Shanahan wasn't the person responsible for Denver's great offensive line in those days - It was Alex Gibbs, who is now Peter Carroll's assistant in Seattle, who made Denver's OL.

Add that the Skins have a miserable OL with the geriatric trio of Willie Parker, Larry Johnson & Clinto Portis carrying the rock. (not to mention the stellar WR corps).

43 sacks for Jason Campbell last year, DMac can't be too thrilled about that.
