N.F.L. Chooses New York-New Jersey For 2014 Super Bowl Site

National Football League owners, lured by playing the sport's biggest game on the largest stage, combined with the promise that snow would not grind the event to a halt, awarded the
2014 Super Bowl to New York on Tuesday afternoon, making the New Meadowlands Stadium the host of what will be the first cold-weather Super Bowl.

The New York-New Jersey bid beat out proposals from Tampa, Fla., and South Florida -- two traditional hosts -- in part to reward the Giants and the Jets for building a new billion-dollar stadium together, a tactic the N.F.L. has used when they have placed the game in Detroit, Dallas and Indianapolis.

"combined with the promise that snow would not grind the event to a halt"

What incredible assholes to make that claim! Typical down state arrogance!
File that promise with BP's promise that they will prevent any serious oil spills and will know just what to do if there is one.

I rarely pray but will make an exception in this case and pray for a blizzard that ruins all events for the entire week and causes the game to be postponed.

I grew up a huge Phillies fan as I have very fond memories of Connie Mack Stadium as a youngster. I got won over in 1967 with Carl Yastremski and that bunch when they made it to the world series and got beat by Bob Gibson and the Cards. I don't understand that hate for the Sox as it is not mutual by any means from Sox fans to wards the Phils.

Actually Juk, the plight of the Phils and Patriots were quite similar to the Eagles and Sox until the Pats broke through. I was a Pats fan too for most of my life as they were in the start up AFL and I only got to see the Eagles twice a year when they played the friekin Giants. I hosted huge Giant-Eagle parties for about 15 years that were a lot of fun (this is Giant country up here for the Old timers as they were the only game on TV for them). I hate the bastards.
