    Ho-hum. Per RotoWorld...

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Bengals have "floated the idea" of trading for Kevin Kolb around club headquarters.

"Make no mistake about it," said Schefter. "The Bengals know they need to move on without Carson Palmer." Schefter also indicates that Cincinnati may strongly consider drafting a quarterback at No. 4 overall. No trades will happen before or during the draft, so the Bengals would have to come up with an impressive package of 2012 picks to acquire Kolb. That's not something they'll be able to count on during the proceedings of April 28-30.
The Cincinnati Enquirer's Joe Reedy "can't see" the Bengals executing a trade for Kevin Kolb.

Reedy confirms ESPN's report that the idea has "floated" around Bengals headquarters, mostly because Kolb fits Jay Gruden's new West Coast offense and Kolb's old QBs coach, James Urban, now coaches receivers in Cincinnati. No pre-draft free agency immediately makes the idea more unlikely, however, and the Bengals would absolutely have to fork over a 2012 first-rounder to make it work.

If no trades will happen before or during the draft, how exactly are they gonna package 2012 picks to get Kolb?

Isn't it 2011 right now or did I just sleep through the entire year?

Why couldn't they trade Kolb after the draft for 2012 picks?

I have to imagine that the teams will manage by working out the picks (such as the eagles and Seattle for kolb) and drafting thE players the other tea, wants, then later consummating the deal when players can be traded. As such, I expect there to be more head scratching than usual (why did Seattle pick an OT)

Maybe I'm nuts but isn't the Judge going to rule this week on whether the league goes back into full play mode? IF she rule s that the season is to resume then why wouldn't there be any trades before or during the draft?

My guess is that whoever loses the case will appeal the decision. Do they go back to work during the appeal? Dunno.

I thought that the Judge's ruling was in affect until an appeal overturned it...

My understanding is that work goes on and the schedule is played under the same league rules as last year in terms of the CBA/Salary Cap. BUT even though the judge may hear the case this week, there may be no decision for a week or so.

                        (Well, duh...)

Per Greg Cosell on Twitter via RotoWorld...

L Films analyst Greg Cosell believes Kevin Kolb must be "manipulated by the system" with a strong running game to succeed long-term as a starter.

Cosell points to Matt Hasselbeck as a similar quarterback, struggling without Shaun Alexander around to keep defenses honest. Kolb's poor pocket presence in limited action lends credence to Cosell's analysis. The Seahawks and Cardinals, Kolb's most ardent suitors according to reports, struggled mightily on the ground last year. Both teams need major upgrades on the offensive line.
