MM, we live in Maryland and our place is in West Virginia. It is about an hour away from Morgantown where the Mountineers play. It takes us 5 hours to drive there, so it cannot be a spur of the moment thing, has to be all planned out. It is 24 acres, my husband is a hunter and uses it for that in the fall. You are right, we do feel obligated to go just to keep up with yard work etc and there is always some project that needs doing. But it is very peaceful, quiet, laid back, everyone is super friendly, we're on a dirt road, husband can shoot guns right in our yard, and he can piss off the front porch if he wants too.We have a direct tv dish and take one of our boxes with us every time we go so we can watch everything we have here. Plan is to split retirement time between here and there if we can afford it.

I know what you mean Chick. With 3 trips to Florida this winter just to buy our place we cancelled our weeks vacation at Cape Cod this summer (and we get the house for free from a friend). You can't do it all I guess.
