Thank God that the women's gymnastics is finally over, not to mention the embarrassing bed shitting by the men's team. I'm glad the women won the team Gold and that the Douglas girl, who actually looks like a young girl and not a thick necked, excessively muscled dwarf (think the mechanically graceless toad, Jordyn Wieber), won the All Round Gold. But if I never hear/see the combo of Al Trautwig and Tim Dagget (rhymes with?) again it will be too soon.
While I'm at it, can we please stop with the constant coverage of beach volley ball. I love the team work, strategy and remarkable defense played by the good 6 man/woman V-Ball teams, but the 2- person beach version is just shit.
When are they gonna show soccer on prime time? Never?
My wife, who is also sick to death of women's gymnastics, "Isn't anything else happening except gymnastics and swimming?"
I explained that NBC is convinced America just loves watching obsessed little girls (whose training is so arduous that their menses are generally suspended) engage in joyless, neuroses inducing competition where one misstep can mean the difference between a medal and a lifetime of regret. It's too much pressure for anyone...especially little girls who should instead be learning to flirt and give head. (The devil made me say that!)
As far as soccer, the only way NBC will give it any air time is if there is a serious and prolonged fight in the stands that ends in death or, at least, multiple serious injuries.
In that vein, I've sent a recommendation to IOC that will increase fan interest in all the events invovling firearms. It's my hope that, starting in 2016, the preliminary rounds of all 'shooting' competitions will occur on a tandem basis. That is, instead of the tired old routine of having one person fire at a time, two participants will fire simultaneously...while facing one another. Scoring will become less important than survival.
After the preliminary rounds, those who are still living and not critically wounded will form a circle and fire at a target (preferably Al Trautwig) standing in the center. I think this is not only fair but will have great appeal in the US, where it is taken on faith that the answer to gun violence is providing unfettered access to firearms for everyone over 6 years of age.

That whole shooting stuff looks fake to me anyway Tino. Aren't you supposed to shoot with glock guns that are pointed sideways with your head tilted. Totally bogus.
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.
I've turned on NBC 4 different times today over the course of 7 or 8 hours. I've gotten women's water polo, women's basketball, women's volley ball and now women's beach volley ball. I thought track and field, the actual Olympic sports, had started. WTF!
I'm really not anti women but, Screw the Women's Quasi Olympics. I'll watch Jim Furyk, with his weird golf swing, win another tournament.

I've seen a couple nasty ones but, fortunately, nothing close to that?
It's 7PM and again I turn on NBC for Olympic. Oh goodie! It's prime time and we're gonna get more women's beach volleyball and more women's gymnastics. Fuck NBC. Where did I put the hemlock?
tino, the network pretty much caters to ratings. I've watched fencing, wrestling, dressage, tennis, handball, boxing, basketball, some judo and many others on NBCSN, Bravo, MSNBC, CNBC. Compared to years ago the coverage has been significant
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
Hope is not a strategy
