  • (OT) One good thing about the MLB post season.

The morally perfect Cardinals are already in and Boston is about to close out Detroit thanks to Victoriino. This blows chunks and leaves a World Series I will not be watching.

But there is one really good thing for me. I will never have to listen (mute) the incredible blow hard McCarver again. Over the years he has deteriorated from a knowledgeable ex player who provided interesting insights to a guy who does an excellent imitation of a moron who has no idea when to just STFU!!.

Joe Buck is an arrogant unlikeable schmuck but he does deserve some credit for not simply losing it and beating McCarver senseless in the booth. While McCarver still says something interesting on occasion, it gets lost in his incessant blather which is mostly painfully obvious or just flat out wrong.

It's like listening to a mentally challenged kid talk about his stuffed animal collection.

And yes... As a Royals fan I loathe the cardinals and although at one time I was neutral on the sox their now spoiled fan base has moved them in to the dislike category for me.

I will not watch a pitch.

But I do hope the Sox win to further irritate soulless Yankee fan.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

My dislike of the Cards started with Bob Gibson I believe. Great pitcher but I hated seeing him pitch against the Phils. I always liked Victorino and was sorry to see him go. So, while I don't expect to see much I hope Victorino gets the ring.
Edit: I hope Molina takes one off the bicep. Nothing to ruin him but enough to keep him from throwing well. He is easy to dislike for me
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
        Hope is not a strategy

True but there are a lot of Cards fans here in KC and to this day they remind us about Jorge Orta and 85 on a daily basis. Also.., the Cards have spent like 500 million on stadium improvements in the past 10 years and the state gave the Royals exactly zero.

We have gone from a franchise that almost mirrored the Eagles to one that resembles the rise of the Steelers. Unfortunately, the arrogance has also followed. I can see why there is resentment. I can't stomach the sports talk shows anymore. But I must add the Red Sox are an extremely likeable team! They really are a gutty bunch and are fun to watch. They are much like the Phillies when they won it. In fact, I have to add how did the Phillies let Victorino go?

I don't really dislike the Sox...I just wanted Detroit to win. The people of the Detroit area could use a boost.

I used to really like the Sox. As you say, they were like the Phils in their chronic futility with the Curse of the Bambino and all. I've grown to dislike Sox fans more than the teams because of their smugness. But I'll still pull for Boston to beat St Louis. Boston continues to be the only semi-reliable antidote for the hated Yankees. Like AW, I absolutely despise the Yankees. To me they embody everything that is wrong with pro sports and, together with their Cowboys soul mates , occupy my special Ring of Unrelenting Hatred. There can be no forgiveness or clemency for those who achieve The Ring.

As for the Cards, and their perfect fans, all with an unbearable attitude of smug moral superiority, here's a scenario that springs from the darkest regions of my warped and vengeful mind:

                - It's early October and the Yankees team plane, headed to Arlington for a playoff game with the Rangers, collides mid air with the Cowboys' team plane headed to Philly. Fate can be cruel in choosing it's locations for disasters. This one occurs almost directly above Busch Stadium just as Tim McCarver is preparing to throw the ceremonial 1st pitch for a Cards/Braves playoff game. Sadly, almost all the wreckage of the two planes falls directly into the Stadium just as Tim, in his senility, mistakenly throws the ball to First Base instead of Home. The carnage defies discription.

                It that wrong?

I would feel bad for McCarver, but sometimes sacrifices need to be made for the general good of all mankind. Could you change the story to total annihilation of the fucking New York Giants?

Well, I am a Red Sox fan, and if we appear to be smug it is because we are just better than other fans.

I never remember Tim McCarver being a "knowledgeable ex player who provided interesting insights." I always thought that he was a pompous asshole who stated the obvious in a manner that made it seem that he was enlightening the world to facts that had never been revealed. I will watch every pitch of this World Series with the hope that the Sox defeat the team for which McCarver played and with the heightened anticipation that I will never hear another word that McCarver speaks. I only wish that his butt-buddy, Joe Buck, would retire at the same time.

When all of the sudden 4 30 million extra pink hats were sold in the Boston area country, that's when I hated the fucking red sox.

                        Stock,

You capture the essence of McCarver's offensiveness better than I did. It was the condescending suggestion that listener had best pay wrap attention to everything he said because he was imparting keen insights they would get nowhere else. And even when he was right, it was just lame bull shit! And it just never stopped. I honestly wondered why no one ever said to him, "Tim! For the love of God! For once in your stinkin' life will you please just shut up!"

He may actually have NEVER been anything other than a pompous asshole. I guess I was giving him the benefit of the doubt 'cause he played for the Phils and was Lefty's favorite catcher.

I'm no fan of the Sox but if it's a choice between Beantown and the self-satisfied shits from Baseball Heaven...screw Baseball Heaven.

Another monster, game winning hit by ex-Phil Victorino.

And finally, we gladly say goodbye to McCarver who was boring and pretentious almost to the last out.

A great win for a GREAT TEAM! A different hero every night. Guys rotating every all season long and not bitching about it. Dana Nava with all star numbers riding the bench and never a peep. Dubrount sent from the rotation to the bullpen, doesn't give up a run, and not a sound. Just a good old fashioned TEAM that was made up of guys who love baseball and winning. Gotta luv'em!!
