  • The Bird's future...it's largely a matter of perception.

With multiple years as the Birds GM and a string of brilliant personnel moves now under his belt ,
this is the image Howie likes to think he projects around the league...'Tough but fair, always
willing to deal, cagey young football wizzard on the rise':

When, in fact, this is the way he is actually viewed by other NFL execs!

Like this, by those who haven't yet made a deal with hm:

'Lurie actually lets this kid run his shop?'

And like this, by those who have:

Guys, I think you are being a bit too hard on Howie. Seriously. The roster is a mess. I'll give you that, but Reid and Banners fingerprints are all over it. I'm not going to blame Roseman. Then, you have to consider the fact that he got Chip Kelly in Philly, and he also may just have recognized his own shortcomings regarding talent, and brought in Gamble. Last year's draft netted them Cox, Kendricks, Boykin, Curry (who is developing), Foles, and Bryce Brown.

Howie ain't Ron Wolfe, but I think he's doing a decent job.

Right now that only gets the response " big deal".

Here's Howie as a young boy executing his first trade - a 1909 Honus Wagner card for two Mookie Wilson's and a pack of gum.

                  EB,

No question but that AR has major responsibility for this mess. But he's gone and I have to have someone to blame. Besides, Howie just looks (and sounds) like such a little pencil neck douche bag, I just can't stop myself.

                    I love it!

When later asked by some older kds why he had made such a dumb trade, without naming her directly, Howie hinted that it was his mother's idea.
