Predict the 2014 Eagles picks Thread

Way to go FairOaks, just need to bump him up two rounds

Had about 4-5 people I wanted to put in for the second round, so bumped him down -- should have bumped him up since two of my first rounders were pipe dreams it turned out.

dawkins20 and stocknowledge also had him in the 2nd.

Anybody have Smith on their list?

Stock had him in the 2nd round. I'll say it again, it's not a huge reach to grab a 2nd round pick late in the first round and getting a good player that is a perfect fit for your system and at a position you need to improve is a good move in my opinion. I have no problem with the pick since the players we all hoped for were gone by the time they picked. I wish Ha-Ha had gotten past GB but he was the last hope for any of the real spot light guys. Smith at least fits the bill and helps us get better at a position of need. Cole has 1 more year and then we'd have to find a plug and ply replacement next year. This buys us time and lets Cole split time with Smith. All things considered it's a good pick.

I agree totally with you, Juk. Smith was a bit of a disappointment in the sense that we have waited four months for this pick and he wasn't one of the names we were expecting - also, because most feel we could have probably traded down a bit further and still been able to select him. However, he looks like he is a player and he fills a need, so we should just sit back and see how he develops. At least we didn't trade up to get him!

It also burns me that we missed Ha Ha by one pick, but that is how things go sometimes!

Looks like the run on pass rushers moved Smith up the boards. Since pass rush was my #1 need, I'm good with it

3 of us got a point for having him on our lists in rounds 2 or 3

Since we now have another 3rd rounder, do we want to add 3 more players to our predictions before 7?

Or just leave it as is?

Just leave it as is, Dawk. Some people may not get the message and it wouldn't be fair to them.

I have no problem with the guy, just the value, I think we could have gotten him even back a bit, but I guess they didn't want to take the chance. Although I thought Chip was king of "taking a chance" so I am a bit surprised.

We should have found a way to get him. Big mistake if you ask me. Everybody knew GB needed a safety. They only had 3 on their roster for crying out loud.

The Eagles got a 3rd round pick for moving back 4 spots at the end of the first round. It would have cost them at least that much to try to move up 2 spots to get ahead of GB. Simply put, we don't have the picks to move up in this draft. If they gave up a first and third for Ha Ha I'd be pissed. We have too many areas that need improvement beyond just Safety. They really made the right move standing pat and hoping he fell to them. Then they made the right call again by moving back and grabbing an extra 3rd rounder. I'm ok with Smith. I think he's going to show us they made the right call.

It is possible that they were looking for someone to trade down with but couldn't find anyone---at least that is what I hope happened
