Again, it's not just about size, and Kelly took a serious gamble by unloading Jackson for nothing in return.

But if you combine his comments with the focus on back shoulder throws and the fact that beating man coverage appears to be Kelly's obsession, there appears to be more validity to the football reasons argument now than there was three months ago.

I think working on the back shoulder throws is just as much for the corners as it is for our receivers.

Of course that's true spur, but we just haven't had that in our arsenal. The fades in the end zone have been nonexistent. Reid talked about them, but he also talked about running the ball. Maybe nobody he had could throw one? They're almost impossible to stop unless you want to let the receiver run right by you. About time!

Bingo 60!!! we haven't had a QB who could make all the throws. We could kill nightcrawlers and throw the ball through a brick wall, but haven't had a QB who could consistently throw a touch pass or simply throw a WR open.
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

It's become obvious what Kelly wants. Size. Big guys beat up little guys. They can take on physical corners, and they can block more effectively.

So, it makes complete sense that if that's what your system is, then you're going to get tall guys on smaller corners, plus you want to get the ball out quick. Those back shoulder throws and fades need to be exploited. They are going to get those matchups, and we know the emphasis on that.
