Oh boy! What did I do wrong now?

It feels like when I was a kid and my father would call me into his room, give me that no nonsense look and ask, "Is there anything you want to tell me?". (I was the middle of 3 boys. My brothers were both generally well behaved so it was my job to balance things out.)

Now I knew he had found out about something I had done wrong and I also knew it would go easier for me if I owned up to it because honesty was VERY important to him. Problem was, at any given time there were usually at least 2 or 3 different 'infractions' of which he might have become aware. So the dilemma was usually, which one to cop to?

Sometimes I'd ask him for a 'hint' about the general area of misbehavior he might like me to come clean on. If what he had knowledge of wasn't really serious, he'd often have difficulty stifling a smile when I asked for a 'hint'. And that was half the battle.

So give me a hint, will ya?

I'm not as interested in hearing what they talked about when they met. I want to hear the stories from Popper on his quest to find Fresh. Did Popper pull up to blonde men on the street corners and ask if they were Fresh? And if any of them asked why, did he respond, "I'm a big Birds fan!"
