Players get paid to play with tons of guys they don't always agree with - Democrats and Republicans, religious people and atheists, country boys and city guys, etc....it's not like some guy would risk his job by not blocking for Riley Cooper. I gave credit to Vick for what he said to diffuse the situation, but I don't feel Cooper owes him for life. Cooper earned his contract last year.
And exactly how long have you been visiting earth?

He doesn't doesn't owe him for life. The "should have him on speed-dial" comment was over the top, as was the headline (probably written by a copy editor and taken somewhat out of context). But Cooper should owe him at least a response to a congratulatory text on getting his contract. If Cooper had been released last year, he would have been a very unpopular signing for any other team. Maybe he would have earned the contract eventually, but it would have been much delayed. It may have been just a few players, but if it causes a locker room headache, many coaches would prefer to just release him rather than risk problems on a 4th WR. Would we really have been surprised if that happened? Vick did show actual leadership there, and it did have a major effect on Cooper's career. Don't think it's really comparable to McNabb.

Hard to earn a contract when nobody wants to play with you.

Vick probably sends Andy and Tony Dungy a thank you card every week so he probably is feeling a little put out that Cooper didn't even return a congratulatory text. Cooper should have definitely responded but maybe he's an idiot who doesn't know how to use his phone.

In either case, probably something Vick should have just kept to himself. But I understand why he would feel that way.

I found the story interesting until the part where he whined about not getting a response to his congratulatory text. That's when Vick struck me as sounding like a 14 year old girl. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Don't most professional athletes act like 14 year old girls?

If true, (Cooper didn't respond) I don't need to know about it.

MV just needs to say nothing about it. It's personal, it's twitter and facebook stuff silly stuff.

Agree with both sentiments. Even assuming his feelings were hurt, it tarnishes a bit his otherwise impressive story of redemption by going public with a private matter.

In the context of Vick's redemption, not all Bird's fans are impressed with the way Vick has turned his life around. I had dinner the other night with a good friend who has lived up here all his life but is a passionate Eagles and Phils fan. I raised the subject of how much I had mellowed on Vick from my original strong hope that someone would kill the MFer. Gary, who is a bright and thoughtful guy (also a real animal lover) hasn't mellowed a bit and contends Vick's turn around is all show. He still wants him dead. Gary had the full support of both his wife and mine...neither of whom give a rip about the Eagles.

                C'est la vie!

Yep, and all of the ones that do I lose respect for.

Awwwww, Riley didn't respond to your text, and now your feelings are hurt so you have to tell a reporter about it. Poor whittle Mikey. But it's OK because he doesn't hold a grudge. Gimme a break, Mike. That's weaksauce.
