Eagles likely to pursue DeSean Jackson in free agency
    11:21 AM ET

    Adam Schefter
    ESPN Senior Writer

The Philadelphia Eagles are likely to pursue a reunion with Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson during the offseason, sources told ESPN.
Multiple teams believe that Jackson, who will be an unrestricted free agent after the season, could return to Philadelphia. The Eagles would benefit from the addition of a speedy deep threat, and Jackson and Eagles coach Doug Pederson are big admirers of each other, sources said.
The Redskins are unlikely to be able to use the franchise tag on the 30-year-old receiver, as they also look to reach deals with quarterback Kirk Cousins and wide receiver Pierre Garcon.
Jackson spent his first six seasons in Philadelphia, reaching three Pro Bowls and posting 356 receptions for 6,117 yards and 32 touchdowns, before signing with Washington before the 2014 season.
Washington and Philadelphia meet next Sunday. The Redskins won the season's first matchup 27-20 with Jackson contributing four catches for 55 yards.

I still have my jersey too. I didn't buy it but won it at a bar on MNF. I like his game but he can't stay healthy.

rather find a kid with speed. Jackson isn't doing much anymore

always hurt and just turned 30

        but desperate times.....

Hell, Alshon Jeffrey and Terrelle Pryor look like guys I'd give huge money to, and neither has been great

but man our cupboard is bare

Pryor is my guy. The rest are not worth what they will get.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

I agree with AW. Pryor is the only WR worth pursuing. Unfortunately, he will probably be franchised or locked up by Cleveland.

I think Pryor is everybody's guy. I also think that I would have been more excited about getting a receiver a month ago. Now I don't even know where to start on this team because we need everything..

True, Pryor is the guy at the top of the list, but DJax, and Alston, are the guys actually likely to be available.

Gotta pick up a WR in FA.. We can't fill all of these holes in the draft.

I don't like the idea of paying top dollar for DJax, who is 30 yo and a punk ass.

Try to get one in the draft.

                    Do both.

And I don't think Djax is going to require top dollar.

he's a good one to talk about the day after the coach said some players quit playing hard

Remember when the Eagles were connected with now-Saints WR Cooks before the draft right after DJax was let go? Well, here's an unsubstantiated rumor that the Saints might want to look at shipping Cooks out.....

                            Height: 5-10 * Weight: 189 * Age: 23

                            http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...gn=Twitter_atn

Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks has walked a fine line, trying to stay silent amid a diminished role but also wanting to contribute to his team's dynamic offense.

As he told reporters this week, every once in a while you have to speak up for yourself. Cooks added, "Closed mouths don't get fed."

Cooks, the electric former first-rounder, should get fed Sunday against Detroit. Expect an effort from Drew Brees and coach Sean Payton to satiate him -- especially after his no-target, no-catch performance against the Rams.

The offseason might be a different story. Cooks' frustration with his role in the offense led some to wonder if this is the best system for his talents, something the Saints likely will explore in the offseason.

Expect trade talks centered around Cooks leading up to the free-agency window, with the speedster no doubt set to draw interest.
This could be similar to what New Orleans did with Jimmy Graham. There are only so many balls to go around. He's a vertical threat unused in that way, and the Saints might decide he's more valuable in a trade than on their team.

Graham's trade had to do with his huge contract. For Cooks, it might be because of his impeding contract, as well as the fact that the team seems to have found receivers such as Willie Snead and breakout star Michael Thomas who better fit what they do.

For instance, Cooks (51 catches for 736 yards and six scores) is on pace to have 30 fewer targets than last season. Though he's averaging 14.4 yards per catch, more than last year, those numbers are skewed by a 98-yarder and an 87-yarder.

It's a tricky situation, made more difficult by Cooks' close relationship with Brees. But the fact that the Saints, the No. 1 offense, scored 49 points without him catching a ball last week might contribute to what should be a very interesting offseason.

Another guy I wonder about is WR Cody Latimer. I remember feeling that he was gonna be Chip's pick the same year that DJax got booted out due to his size, blocking ability and speed. Doesn't seem like he's done much at all in Denver. Plays a lot on ST's

But to the original premise of the thread, I can see this happening. Maybe a two-or three year deal as a hedge against Father Time eventually sapping his speed.
