LOL 60. I think you are going to be OK regarding Detroit. The question with them is whether or not they can win a single game in the playoffs. They have to be one of the crappiest and luckiest playoff teams ever and 8 of their 9 wins were by the skin of their teeth.

We are not a good team. But, I think we are better than Detroit and should have beaten them early in the season.

Well if we ever get to have a beer together we can discuss it at length and I'm buying! Believe me I had a few after yesterday.

But what depresses me much more than my belief that the Birds are probably not going to win the gold ring in the next 20 or so years I expect to live, is a deep foreboding that the vermin from Dallas will win at lest one in the next couple years.

That may be more than I can bear!
Well said and this is it in the nutshell. We have some folks who are just at their breaking point with the team. I get it, I understand it. Their expectations every year is Super Bowl or bust. I understand that but the craziness of saying this team is a 4 win team (when it was a 7 win team with the worst schedule in football)is silly. No one can predict the future, but I will tell you with the right additions to this team they can compete for the playoffs next season. Hell for most of this season they competed for the playoffs, despite the worst schedule in the NFL, playing 4 teams in a row that came off bye weeks etc. This does not say and I never said they are a Super Bowl contender next year, that is a different animal. I think for some the stress of not winning a Super Bowl is too much, for their health its probably best that they done the cap of another team. The negatively is getting way too old. For the first time in 7 years we have a franchise QB, we have some building pieces. No team is ever perfect. I understand the skepticism of Howie, of Lurie of Doug. I too am skeptical of them but right nowI think they are on the right track. That is my opinion and continue to be my opinion until they do something that changes it. I enjoyed watching this team this year, I am excited about the possibilities this offseason will bring.

Oh and as somebody else said, I am usually the negative one. Not this time, this time they are on the right track. Where that track leads nobody knows. Maybe Howie gets Blandino on the his party bus and we get the benefit of calls that almost always go against us. Witness the fact that Doug challenged the most calls in the league this year and was successful 70% of the time ( that is crazy btw we had 7 calls overturned by replay). Maybe we get lucky like Dallas did with Prescott in the 4th round, maybe we find the next star RB there or WR. Either way this there is much reason for optimism the only reason to be negative in my opinion is you are either not truly a fan or have just had enough of the no Super Bowl wins.

        • I'm not worried about a Super Bowl win. I've resigned myself I'll probably have departed this world without seeing them win one. But....if I'm wrong....damn is that win gonna be sweet.

            1. Have not hear one person say they are at the breaking point with this team? Not one even come close!
            2. Maybe if you bother to read others posts- you would have noticed that almost everyone who slightly disagrees with you --- also sez that they can be a playoff team next year with a good off season.
            3. Have not seen anyone on this board ever claim that the Eagles must be SB winners or even contenders or BUST. (Thats silly)
            4. the 7 games vs 4 or 5 games isn't literal, of course they did win 7, the argument was the talent level of a 5 win team vs an 7 win team and the theoretical difference in talent levels.

Pliny----You ever let my name and MrV's name come out of your mouth again at the same time.... and I'll hunt you down and rip your heart out through your throat!!!! LOL (BTW- I'm not the culprit here)

BTW-- I think Ross, Stock, Fresh and 60 and Pliny are all on the same page here, so it ain't just me.

            • Right behind you, MD. TAZ is gong of the deep end, for whatever reason. I don't consider myself to be taking a negative approach, but more of a realistic approach. I see the space between us, and the teams who are at the top right now, and I see it as a significant gap, one that can't likely be closed in a single offseason. Ummmm, so what???? I am still as much of a die-hard fan as ANYONE on this board, and I am insulted to be referred to as anything less.

              • I just finished going through this thread and all I can say is Wow! I actually believe everyone is saying pretty much the same thing. As this team is constructed now it is not a playoff team. It needs help. There are some pieces but we all agree we are clearly lacking playmakers on both sides of the ball. At the beginning of the season I thought this was a 5 win team and with some breaks could get to 7-9 wins. That was with Bradford at QB. Yet they still did exactly what many of us said they would do. They won a few and lost a couple that should have won. Its the NFL. Schedule, injuries, officials (especially this year) all play a part in a season. No one actually thought Dallas was going to be any good at the beginning of the year either. I may be in the minority but I still dont think they are that good. You can score on that defense at will (Redskins, Steelers) You can stop them on offense {Giants, Eagles (game 1)} To me the most talented team in the division was the Redskins. The Eagles are 4th in the division but so was Dallas last year. I think a true perennial contender for a ring will not happen next season but a playoff chance is possible.

                • I think we need 5 players to be very good and I don't think Howie can pull them out in one offseason. IMO we need 2 WRs, 2 CBs and 1 DE with double digit sack potential. If we get that DE we may sneak by with just 1 CB, but he needs to be able to take a WR out of the game. Now maybe either OGB or Aggy makes an offseason transformation and becomes a Pro Bowl pass catcher and maybe Howie finds enough cash to land 2 quality players and we get 3 starters from the draft, but that seems highly unlikely. I am of the opinion that we can manage a couple pieces and be a 9-10 win team, but we have a better chance 2 years down the road.
