Also Gregg Allman (69) and Leon Russell(74) among many less influential singers/musicians who died within the last year and 1/2. These were all relatively "young men" and all happened to be musicians I really liked/enjoyed.

Getting old is a bitch but as our friend and brother Fresh so poignantly reminded us, "Old age is a privilege denied to many".

BTW, the reports on Tom Petty are no somewhat mixed. Initially reported as deceased, some news outlets are now saying "near death, no brain activity, on life support).
