  • NFL really got lucky on celebrations

I think an unexpected thing happened with the celebrations when the NFL finally caved in. Instead of wrs doing their diva crap the players have decided to do team things. Even old schoolers like me like that stuff. Of course the only tool that took it upon himself to be an asshole is the idiot from the dysfunctional NY Giants Beckham.

That is the only good thing about it---it is a team thing not a see me thing
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
    Hope is not a strategy
    RIP

I wouldn't put it past them if it ever happens. If we get that far you should suggest it!

So the Eagles website has a board for Dave Sapdaro. To me it appears he doesn't answer much but I thought maybe he has a guy responsible for checking it out. Anyway, told him I liked some of the celebrations and if they want something truly Philly for New Year's Eve it would be the Mummer's Strut. Now I think it VERY unlikely they would do it but Spadaro answered the post and said he liked the idea and would pass it to the locker room.

Hopefully the players even know who the Mummers are lol. Good work with Spads!! Years ago (before the internet) the only way that I could get news way up here in Mass. was to subscribe to Eagles Digest. Heck, I really don't even remember how I even found out about it. Anyway, Spads had his column and I wrote him twice a couple of times about some thoughts and he posted both letters in abbreviated forms. I used to have an Eagles-Giants party every year in my cellar and I'd hang up a years worth of the Digest for decorations and of course I had my letters highlighted. They're still hanging down there. Seeing as though my wife thinks the cellar is a dumping ground I refuse to go down there now so I haven't seen them for awhile LOL!!

I've been playing team sports for 40yrs now and have never once thought about putting on the narcissistic displays of poor sportsmanship, thinly veiled as "team celebration", that is taking place in sports today. We let our play do the talking. The vast majority of people that acted like that in my experience playing were total assholes off the court/field as well. The NFL is leading the way with encouraging this childish behavior. Yes it's a game, but they're supposed to be professionals, try acting the part.
Stand for the flag you assholes!

Eagles, Flyers Phillies fan since 1977. GO O'S!!

I think any of us that grew up in the 50s/60s have that mindset. We didn't see that growing up. For the most part we were much more reserved. Life has changed. I'd rather see them not have celebrations but I think team is much better than me

My thoughts exactly.... If your gonna have it... The team celebrations are much more acceptable. And frankly some are a bit funny, IMO.
