As much as everyone wants a WR round 1, I would love to see the defense get physical, faster and better
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

We think alike. I have zero knowledge of a draft board or what rounds these guys will go in. Guys fall from the late first round to the third and late rounders climb. One man's trash is another team's treasure. It just seems to me that in any sport you have to be strong up the middle and the Eagles just don't get it. Why wouldn't you want a great player right in the center of your defense? I just don't get it.

How much of a drop is there between Jefferson and Mims? Not enough to not draft Murray.

Theoretically the team could draft Murray and still get a good WR prospect in the succeeding rounds...If they picked him, I wouldn't be upset...

Be careful on Mims, he had a 3rd round grade up until the combine. He played at Baylor against inferior competition.

Personally I see 4 receivers with first round grades. I have 7 with second round grades. If all 4 receivers are gone, then go for the BPA. That very well could be Murray.

Take Murray and then trade back up in the 2nd round and get a Hamler, Reagor etc. Then later in the draft get a Van Jefferson type.

How pissed would most fans be if they take Murray in the first and Cesar Ruiz in the second? I would be OK with that if they could get someone like Aiyuk by moving back into the second round via trade.

The only question that I have with Murray is that the Big 12 doesn't play a hell of a lot of defense. I haven't seen any film of him making plays when the ball the ball is run right at him and he has to shed blockers. The guy sure can move though!

Jeremiah talks Eagles, Murray, and WR fits...

"In a division with Elliot, Barkley twice a season, Murray would make sense..."

                  https://www.bleedinggreennation.com/...kenneth-murray

“I’m a huge fan of Kenneth Murray, and I understand — I know — obviously I worked there, I know the history and what they traditionally do. I just know when I look inside that division and I’ve got to play Ezekiel Elliott twice a year and I’ve got to play Saquon Barkley twice a year, I’d like to have a guy like Kenneth Murray to match up against those players, and they do not have that player on their roster right now.

I also know that from Joe Douglas being there with Howie and now with Andy Weidl being there with Howie, those guys came from the same place I came from in Baltimore, and we saw what a linebacker can do with Ray Lewis and the impact he can have on a football team. That’s another side of it. I would also say if you’re looking at high batting average picks, when you look at some of the linebackers that we’ve seen go in the first round over the last several years, they’ve all been impact players. We saw it with Devin Bush last year with the Steelers. We saw it with Devin White last year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, we’ve seen it with Vander Esch what he’s done with the Cowboys while he’s been out there, these guys have all played at a high level and been very impactful, and Jim Schwartz with what he wants to do and asking some of those guys to be able to run and cover, I think he’s a great pick, and I also think with Murray, you’re talking about off-the-charts intangibles with intelligence and just a high, high character individual who’s a phenomenal leader. He started at Oklahoma as a freshman. This kid is made of the right stuff, and I think in a year where you don’t have all the information on all these players and there can be more risk involved, I don’t know that it gets much safer than him.”
                  WRs-

“Well, for me if you had the pick of the litter it would be CeeDee Lamb if you can get him. I think he’s the best. He can do everything. He can give you the big play ability down the field but he can also do a lot of dirty work on 3rd down and in the red zone and he would give Carson a lot of free yards after the catch. That would be my choice. But when I look at the top four guys between CeeDee Lamb, Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs, Justin Jefferson, I think Carson Wentz would make a star out of any of those four players.”

The more I think about this the more I really like the idea of taking Murray in the first, Ruiz in the second and trading to get back into the second for a WR like Aiyuk or Mims. This solves so many problems for the next several years giving us an athletic, smart and aggressive LB to solidify the middle of the defense for the next 8-10 years, a replacement for Kelce who is likely retiring in the next year and still gets us the WR we need to stretch the field. Howie loves to make draft day trades so this scenario gives him a chance to do that as well. Obviously we can’t fill all of our needs in the draft especially if we trade away picks, so we need to be looking at FA to fill some of the remaining holes. Eric Reid is out there and may be a stop gap for us at safety. And as much as I hate the P-O-S, Clowney is still out there. I’d bring him in on a 2-3 year contract to give us that additional edge rusher we still need. He’s an asshole, but he would make our defense much better. Between these two signings and our other moves and my proposed draft picks, we will have an amazing off season.

I don't think that we can pass on his kind of talent. They could play all kinds of games with him in passing situations after he gets his feet wet. You want speed Howie so go get him!

Agree on Clowney - both that he is a POS and that we should sign him if it’s for 2-3 years. I would also kick the tires on Everson Griffen, but only for 1-2 years. Could get very similar or better production without the drama or slime.

Not sure I am sold on Ruiz - some sense out there that he has bad kind of weight on him. If he is smart he gets into an NFL weight room and gets rid of it. If he is lazy he eats his way out of his quickness as he ages. Second round pick too costly. Centers can be found later and developed.

I like the idea of Murray or Queen in the first, esp if you can get a late 2nd / early 3rd by moving down. When all is said and done, some of the 2nd / 3rd round receivers may develop as well as the Big 3 / 4.

I agree flyered. There will be some 3/4 round people who pan out. Tough to find them though.
I just can't see the birds going LB in round one. I'm not saying they shouldn't; just that I'd be real surprised.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
