The lack of talent really showed up in this game. The inexperience in the coaching staff really showed in this game. The NFL incompetence's in the officiating really showed in this game, how great Tom Brady is really showed in this game and How great Todd Bowles is at calling a defense was on display.
1. Hurts, Absolutely pathetic. He couldn't read the defense, he was way late on his decision making. The first INT basically sealed the game. The second was a great pay by Barrett but you have to have the arm strength to get that over him. His inability to throw the out pass really showed. Call it a hunch but he won't be the starting QB next year for the Philadelphia Eagles.
2. Siranni coached like a one legged man in an ass kicking contest. He really had no answers to Tampa putting 8 and 9 men in the box. Some of that is really the short comings of the QB, some of it is Siranni. I still think this season proved this guy can be a good coach. He needs a better QB on the field. He needs a better defensive coordinator to.
3. Gannon really didn't try much till the Bucs were up by 17. Now just like Siranni I get it he was hampered by injuries and lack of talent but this guy just doesn't have a feel. Not all on him, the offense and in particular Hurts and Reagor did him no favors but he really came up small in this game.
4. Kudos to Barnett, Williams an Kerrigan they really showed up in this game. I have to say that Fletcher Cox was a disappointment and I did see Hargrave make some plays
5. The officiating was really bad in this game. They made some really bad calls. Both of the holds on Kelce were more than questionable. The first TD was a gift from the officials as not only did they call a roughing the passer that wasn't, they also missed tow extreme holds right in front of them. The NFL has to do better with this. Between this and the Bengals game just infuriating.
6. Hate Brady all you want but the guy just takes what the defense gives him and makes play after play after play.
7. Why did Gannon have LB covering Mike Evans so much. You never let the other teams best receiving weapon beat you.
8. What happened to Lane Johnson, TJ Edwards, Dickerson was out for some plays. Fox did a great job of talking about the Bucs injuries' by no mention of the Eagles. No mention the Eagles were playing with their 3rd string OG, 2nd string DE's etc. Really poor job by them. If you are going to harp on the one team you really need to mention the other
9. Devonta Smith was open all over the field. Hurts just couldn't get him the ball.
10. The team should move on from Miles Sanders this offseason. Boston Scott (who is a free agent), Kenny G and either brining back Howard or drafting a younger guy is what they should do going forward. I wonder if we can trade him for a LB like Kiko Alsonzo.
Overall this season is somewhat a success. Although at the begin of the year we talked about the following things.
1. Does Hurts prove he should be the franchise QB starting going forward. In my opinion he did a few good things this year. The fact that they had to change the offense mid year because he couldn't handle it is a huge downfall for him. His performance today and really in a ton of the big games this year. He has proven to me he is not the future here as the starter. I think he can be a good backup in this league and a starter for the lower echelon teams. He is not a franchise QB.
2. Is SIranni a head coach. The answer is yes. Is he a offense minded coach. The answer is yes. He devised the best running attack in football this year.
3. Is Jonathan Gannon a good defensive coordinator. The answer is NO in my opinion Takes too long to make in game adjustments and plays pussy ball. I want an aggressive guy as my defensive coach
4. Should Howie Roseman be back. The answer is Yes. Why? Well he had a much better offseason this offseason than in 2020. Smith looks to be our number 1 wide out. I didn't like the pick and would still take Parsons over him however this is Jalen Reagor over Justin Jefferson. He hit on his 2nd round pick in Dickerson who played much sooner than I thought he would and played LG. He hit on Milton Williams. He hit on Kenny Gainwell. Even the later round guys were pretty good picks His signings in the offseason again were a mixed bag but I think he is doing well enough to stay. The grass is not always greener on the other side. He must and I will say it again MUST hit on the draft this year and he has to figure out the QB situation.
Onto the offseason. Lots of mock drafts, free agent signings etc.
