  • Eagles vs Packers Instant Observations

A win is a win is a win. This team continues to find a different way to win every week. Its a good sign for a deep playoff run, however we do have some real weaknesses starting to show.

    1. The special teams coordinator should be fired right after this game. They simply can not cover kicks or punts. We have an excellent kicker and an decent punter. We can't return kicks and punts and can't cover them

    2. Gannon can go with him. I am sick and tired of this defense. They have like two weapons. Watson and the RB. If a very simple offense to defend. Yet this idiot who I don't think studies a damn thing can't stop either one of them. Either stop the run or the pass. He stopped neither tonight. Watson is a rookie. You put Slay or Bradberry on him every down and you won't hear a peep from him. Instead we have Epps trying to cover him or Blankenship etc. I am sick and tired of this. He has the talent. USE IT CORRECTLY. No excuse for giving up this type of points to this team. I don't care about the numbers either. They don't pass the eye test. Jordan Love should have been blitzed every down. He can't handle the blitz. Instead 4 man rush

    3. Jalen Hurts had a Great Game. Running it, Passing it was just great. Can't think of anything he did wrong.

    4. The offensive line had a great game. As did all the RB's. I mean 350 yards on the ground

    5. AJ Brown did not have a good game. Sorry you can't keep fumbling.

    6. What about Blankenship. Came out and played really well. Great pick. Was hitting hard.

    7. Heckuva interception by Scott to. I don't think Slay even seen it hit him.

    8. Injuries are starting to pile up. I know that CGJ, Dickerson, Brady and Scott went out today. I don't think I saw any of them come back. CGJ is the most concerning. That looks like broken ribs.

    9. We really need to find a way to get some production out of the Tight End. I know Goedert is hurt but Stoll and Calcatera need to be able to get open and catch the ball. I did not see them open on any routes they ran.

    10. Andre Dillard played pretty well filling in for Dickerson. Really surprised nobody stepped up and traded for him. He is going to be a good starter for another team.

Overall We are 10-1. Let that sink in 10-1 and a missed facemask call away from possibly being 11-0. We get zero respect from around the league. Yes we have warts on ST and Defensive coordinator. But we are a damn good football team

Spot on Taz. I am very disappointed in the defense and special teams (coverage and return). That was not a championship caliber performance by the defense.

Kick coverage is brutal every week. Gainwell was out there getting tooled on every time. They have to fix it.

hate our zone defense. Taz said it. Watkins is their only real threat. And we give him a free run off the line and zone cover him with a safety? That can’t happen. This D sucks at zone. We shouldn’t play it as much as we do.

we have some warts and can most certainly lose any single elimination playoff game. But we can win any of them too

Pretty much agreed on all counts. AJ Brown had some good plays, and was fine outside that one fumble. But that has got to stop. He had only three career fumbles before this, and none since 2020, but that's two in two games.

The offensive miscues did stop though, and our offense was great after that.

Kickoff coverage has only been sporadically bad this year, before this game. It was consistently dreadful today. There was even one kickoff which bounced once or twice before the returner picked it up and he still got back to the 25 yard line. That was outright abysmal. I'm sure our ST talent is bad, but even bad talent is better than that.

          Bit interesting on Brown:

It took a lot for A.J. Brown to play tonight. He has a busted blood vessel in his eye from from throwing up. He lost roughly 7 pounds from being sick. He actually wasn’t feeling well until the second quarter.

Landon Dickerson came back in and played so he is OK.

CGJ might be back in a few weeks. Broken ribs heal pretty quickly and he needs a new contract so he needs to be a heal quick kinda guy.

AJ will be fine but yeah he is not up to his standard the past few games.

this OL is the best in football.

we need Jordan Davis back and we need to show different fronts and bring extra bodies every so often. I don’t care if the guy is a Hall of Famer or not.

man Tj Edwards and Kyzir just fly all over the field. It’s crazy.

we need a DE. That’s need number one next year. Our DEs just don’t get edge pressure. BG is old and Josh Sweat is just a guy. Robert Quinn has done ZERO.

Hurts is really progressing at a rate I didn’t think he could. The only thing I need to see now is climbing the pocket because that gap sound pass rush scheme is what everyone has to start doing against the Birds. Steichen and Nick need to adapt and Hurts MUST recognize it and hit the shallow crosser or the check down. I have no doubt he will. The guy has passed every NFL test he has been given now.

lastly… I don’t get the STs thing anymore. We have a great roster. STs are normally the product of your depth. The Pack was bringing it 6-8 yards deep out of the end zone with success. Makes no sense.

10-1… and here comes a very average Titans team. Get that win and then get ready for the three games that will 100% define our season. We need to be 13-1 heading into Dallas because that is going to be Dallas Super Bowl.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

I know this was instant. I am a nerd so I went back and looked at some of the key plays.

I didn't bitch about the officials because I feel like I am a broken record. But every week big play after big play are screwed up by these guy. On the third sneak I thought Hurts had got it. The replay was from one angle. What I love about the internet is other angles show up. The over head view showed Hurts got the first down easily. I will say it over and over again the NFL needs an eye in the sky at each game that can buzz down in those situations. That is not as egregious as the missed Facemask on the screen play and wait have you heard this before right in front of an official. That resulted in a score for Green Bay and on the TD pass from Rodgers to the RB (I think it was Dillion) clear hold and take down of Reddick that allowed Rodgers out of the pocket. The thing was the official started to throw the flag then ate it. Result TD

Andrewaters DE is the number 1 need on this team. We have a bunch of good complementary ends but we don't have that guy who is consistent double digit sack guy. Reddick is going to get there but he is really a part time end, part time linebacker. I would be shocked if that New Orleans pick is not a DE

Talent isn’t the issue on kickoff coverage. They have good backup talent. Hell even Blakenship an UDFA is pretty good backup material. ST coverage issues are coaching issues. Either scheme or motivational
Watson was a solid pick from a small school but as was said he is a rookie. Get in his face and show him he is up against NFL talent now
just me but there will always always always be missed calls. Ones like Goedert’s are inexcusable but I can’t blame the refs for a missed call here or there. Birds have theirs too.
I don’t like Hurts having so many designed runs.
finally I think DE was primary target going into the draft next year anyway. The lines are their MO and with guys Graham and Cox at the end of their career and Sweat being pedestrian they had a damn good idea of the need. I won’t be surprised to see them move up with that Saints pick to get the guy they want.
I’m glad they didn’t use more than a third for Dean and I hope he uses the ready of the year and the off season to up his game
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
                Hope is not a strategy
                RIP
