Howie is killing it . We have 2 starters and 2 quality players in 4 picks
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

I like that we are shopping in the top schools in SEC and now Big 10. The football played in those conferences is on another level and we need folks that are take a step up to the NFL and not a leap up from some of the other conferences

Have to trust Stout on OL, but Dewand Jones was rated much higher than Steen. Plenty of safeties rated higher than Brown. That said, I read scouting reports. Eagles watch tape.

Sounds like Steen has a lot of technique issues, but is really big and a crazy athlete. Only reason he'd be projected to guard is short arms. Jones is huge but probably can't move nearly as well, but likely has better technique right now. Howie did say he drafts more traits with OL, trusting that Stoutland can teach him up. Probably could backup at multiple spots and become a starting RG down the road in a year. Seems like exactly the type of pick we'd look for.

Brown was the second rated Safety

Battle is more of a box safety. Brown runs 4.4 and is way more versatile. Not saying he’s in the same class, but he reminds me of Polamalu. When Brown ran that 4.4 at the combine, that was the clincher. Have a feeling he is going to be a stud and fan favorite eventually

I’m sure Stout had his opinion of Steen. I will in 99.9 % of the time give Stout the benefit of the doubt

Eagles draft Illinois S Sydney Brown with the No. 66 pick. Good value. 23-year-old who earned All-Big Ten First-Team honors on the nation's top scoring defense with six interceptions and seven passes defensed.

from what I saw I his highlight film he hits like a ton of bricks.

Real happy with the draft. Can’t get everything in three rounds but he filled areas of need with top line players.
The DL got gashed in run game a handful of times last year and they have the guys who will retire after next year. He killed that need in round one.
Had to have an OL for Stoutland to work with who has potential to be a RT. Done.
then you look to see where can we upgrade. Safety of course. We have safeties - - a guy coming off injury, a small school kid who has potential to be a solid player, a guy who is limited (Wallace) but they not a stud. Brown goes into the mid to see if he is that guy.
now get your best guess at punter in round seven so that you don’t risk not getting him as an UDFA
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
                        Hope is not a strategy
                        RIP

Brown is undersized which I don’t like but every other trait is there.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

People are raving about Steen and Brown and absolutely drooling over Carter and Smith. Howie for Governor

Yeah he is undersized. However we played with Rodney McCould for several years who was 5ft 10 195lbs. Brown is probably a little thicker than him. About the same height. What I don't like about Brown is he misses a too many tackles. But he is a playmaker. I think he probably starts day one because he is a deep safety. Really Blankenship and Edmunds are more box safeties although Blankenship can kind of play both.

I would have taken either Jyaire Brown or Jordan Battle but honestly they are all kinda of in the same mould. I just didn't like the missed ackles by Brown and his tackling technique he may struggles some when he comes into the league. Overall I am not down on the pick at all. I just thought a couple of guys where better on the board at that position. Howies record with drafting defensive backs is abysmal. So lets hope he got this one right.

Also I would not be surprised if they double up on taking another Olineman and another safety later with the 4 picks left. I would love to see them find a way to package a few of those picks and get back into the 5th round. Maybe a 6th this year, 7th this year and a 6th next year to get up near the top of the 5th. I think maybe a decent LB may be there.
Were from Philly F in Philly no one likes us we DON'T CARE!

Funny you say he can’t tackle and one of the first things Ray Didinger said was what a good tackler he is.
