  • Eagles vs Giants observations

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH, beaths, HAHAHAHAHA. This team is a joke. The coaching staff do they actually have professionals or just cheerleaders. Where do I start.

    1. Hurts - Pathetic. Huge step back in the last six weeks. He is getting out of the pocket way too quickly, he is not checking out of plays, and he can't handle the blitz at all. Mairota handled the blitz much better than Hurts. They will need to bring in a new QB coach in the offseason and break him of some of these habits that Johnson and Tanny have done to him. The regression is real. He is not a lost cause, but if they don't make changes to get this kid righted he will be.

    2. Siranni and his staff will be coaching their last game on Sat or Sun. They have no shot at winning against a pee wee football team let along a professional one. I believe Lurie has already made the decision to fire Siranni and his staff. I would not be surprised if they are already getting their feelers out. I believe Frank Reich will be the head coach next year. Siranni and his staff are just way too passive. They need have more of a Philly mentality. They need to fight, sitting back and waiting for the big play on both sides is not working.

    3. I don't understand anything this team is trying to do on defense. They have play caller problems, they have personnel problems. The real bad thing is they have given up. I just don't understand why they just sit back and sit back and sit back. Damn try something, Morrow can't cover and he can't play against the run send him as a blitzer from all over the place. Let the offense have to adjust to you. I just don't get it at all. I really believe we could take a casual fan from the stands to coach the defense better than that.

    4. Offensively WTF is all I can say. Kenny Gainwell was averaging 10ypc and then all of sudden they stopped giving them the ball. Brown gets hurt no adjustments. It was interesting watching them finally go to a short passing game against the same pressure once half the team got hurt. Covey looked good, Why has he not been involved more.

    5. The injuries are really mounting now. I don't believe Smith or Brown will be able to play next week. Slay should have been back by now and he isn't. Now Blankenship is out, Brown is out. Jurgens got his eye poked no call, I saw it. Hands to the face no call. Dickerson was hurt but came back in. Ricks looks like he may have a knee injury. Honestly I would have pulled the team off the field and just said we are good. The field is horrible why risk more injuries. Forfeit it. Maybe that is what needs to happen

This loss means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Except maybe they will be a pick or two better in the draft and the Giants getting a lower pick. However its the way we lost and the fact that this is done. It means a ton in the grand scheme of things going forward. We know we can't continue with the staff the way it is.

I said awhile ago I thought Nick was arrogant. I still think that. It is okay to have arrogance while always learning and adjusting. It is not okay to be arrogant and not change because you think you have all the answers. The tush push IMO told Nick that he knows better than anyone else. That what he does can’t be stopped. Well this is the NFL. Give ‘em time and they will figure out how to stop you. They haven’t stopped the push yet but they have stopped Nick’s offense cold. He continues to run the same thing week in and week out and they have figured him out.
Howie and Jeff have a decision and an appt with Nick to tell him the direction the team is going. I wonder which way it will go.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
    Hope is not a strategy
    RIP

Once again, I didn't get a chance to see the game. That may have been a good thing. I am numb, however, at this point. It was almost as if I could feel the lack of fire each time the game tracker refreshed on my phone. I wasn't surprised too much that it ended the way it did.

Hurts' regression is alarming, but not unfixable. I'd be surprised if Tanney is retained. As for the offense? It's possible Hurts will be learning a new scheme as a result. I think Johnson is running Sirianni's scheme, and therefore might be afforded another chance for redemption. To be sure, I'm not advocating such, just saying it's possible. Unless it's Johnson designing the plays. Then he's probably one foot out the door right now.

I still think that Sirianni will get another year to right the ship, and that the changes will occur below his level. Nevertheless, Lurie and Roseman HAVE to be thinking about other contingencies. Sirianni could balk at firing his assistants, and then go the way of Doug when he did the same. I trust that there will be some changes made. This has been an historic collapse, and must be addressed in a decisive manner.

I won’t wear Birds gear again until massive coaching changes are made. This is a disaster. Fire all of them.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

Where is Howie in all this? Brown showed little, Smith less and Dean is hurt but has showed little. Add in the LB moves in off season, signing Bradford long term, watching Hargreaves walk, there were some bad moves made this year with salary cap

Best OL in football and we stopped running the ball. We blew coverages all over the field.

guys I have been true to this team for 37 years. I am not switching teams but I won’t support this until a change is made.

hurts regressed this year. Why? I think it’s the scheme.

Hargrave walked because they had to pay the QB. He actually did well replacing him with Carter who had an excellent rookie year.

Dean being hurt can't predict that but leaving the team so thin at LB is where I have to criticize Howie. Maybe drafting one less offensive or defensive lineman and another LB would have made sense. Maybe drafting the correct safety instead of going for boom or bust Syndey Brown how about a steady college player like Jayir Brown who BTW is starting for the 49ers defense. I mean Howie does have some culpability but a ton of this is on the coaching. Like 90% of it.
At some point the coaching staff has to develop the talent they have. Look at Nolan Smith. They are trying to make him Micah Parsons in six weeks time. The guy is confused. Let him learn to be a pass rusher or strong side linebacker first. Then teach him other things. These guys are confused out there. Veterans and rookies alike. How is this possible? They have the wrong coordinators and the wrong coaches around them. As much as we praise Stoutland, WTF is Tyler Steen deactivated yesterday. He actually showed a little bit at times when he did get in there this year. Why is he not coming along. He had the college pedigree, he has the talent. How come the great offensive line whisper can't get him in the lineup?
The defensive backs coach to me seems to be the only one who is developing players. Those young corners are learning, they may get beat here and there and every corner does but they are challenging and learning. Hell that Tristan McClough comes off the practice squad and was making plays. Ringo got beat some yesterday but he also made some nice plays. Showed that he can blitz to with his first career sack. Something a James Bradberry could never do. Ringo is better than Bradberry right now. They got the kid in the 4th round.

You can't tell me they can't find linebackers out there. You have to draft them though. In the past five drafts they took what two linebackers. Dean and Taylor both in the late 3rd round. Not enough you have to draft more of them. Yes they said Smith was a LB but he isn't he is a hybrid pass rusher who right now should just be a pass rusher.

Speaking of the pass rush who is coaching those guys? The defensive ends can\t set the edge on the rush, the rush and the coverage schemes are not in sync.

This is just a mess. From Jeffrey Lurie down. BTW Barrett Brooks swears is was Lurie who demoted Desai and I think he could be right.

Well said Andre. It took 12 weeks for the warts we all knew could happen this year to show up.
The coordinators were green and it showed on the field. I still think Johnson may at some point be a good coordinator. Desai made some nice adjustments early and then couldn't find anything. Both coordinators were the wrong choice for a Super Bowl contending team. The issue is the guys like Fangio were already scooped up by the time Pew Pew boy and Steichen were hired. The Eagles didn't read the situation enough to have guys lined up. Looking back on it what they got for the Pew Pew boy tampering wasn't anywhere near enough. They should have had the NFL step in and give them more.

We had a ton of things go right to get to 10-1 and it really got exposed and we fell apart after that. The densive line lost their MOJO and everything else fell apart.

Baldinger does some great breakdowns of All 22 and he said the lack of short dump off routes and blitz recognition and pickup is criminal. That can't be fixed with this current cast of coordinators and coaches. The coaching this year and in the second half of the Super Bowl last year was malpractice. We can't go into 2024 thinking everything is going to magically fix itself. Changes have to be made.

If you remember my posts AW when straight I mentioned it every week that we have zero hot reads against blitzes and it kills Hurts. Last week Arizona was lining up eight men on the line of scrimmage And our only answer was to keep Goedert in to block. WTF?
