  • Birds Sign TE

CJ Uzomah signs 1 year deal . 6’5 270 and graded out as the #4 run blocking TE
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

Felt TE was a need and thought they were going to address it in the draft. My guess is they didn’t see a pathway to getting a TE that would fit their needs where they are picking.
Even with this signing I think a high end TE is needed to protect against Goedert injury or his age.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
    Hope is not a strategy
    RIP

Was just watching NBC Philly and Dave Zangaro said they are just filling in holes and now they have no real positions that would make them over reach for someone. Howie can just be Howie

This is what I thought too. I think Uzomah can be decent in the offense, possibly more so than Stoll.

I think he is the second TE 60. He is Stoll withe more reception potential

He has 82 career starts, including 21 of his 27 games the last two years with the Jets. He had decent receiving years with the Bengals but does seem like blocking is his strong suit. Had an MCL injury late last year, and was on IR for the last 5 games, and was a cap casualty for the Jets. Age 31 so on the downside of his career, but if other TEs don't show much in the way of blocking chops he could take someone's spot.

PFF had him as the 4 th rated blocking TE. He is huge and would be a nice addition in the middle of the field

Yea he is a big dude that can block. Stoll wasn’t a guy they threw to and I imagine The U will be the same. Blocking guy who gets a pass every few games
