That was funny and kind of sad at the same time.

The best one was when they point out Jalen's cap numbers. The $97 million number is a dummy number. They don't know that. If you look at the years after that they are all lower than $20 and by that time the cap will be 20-30% higher than it is now.

They also think that a guy like Becton is going to jump to a dysfunctional Dallas team for more money.

Both the Giants and Cowboys don't realize they have to pay a premium for guys because players don't want to go there.

You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

So many nationally said that Hurts sucked in the Rams game. Yet, his stats passing for that game were almost identical to Mahomes and Allen last week.

I guess the only real negative were the sacks he took. Maybe that is what everyone was focusing on. But, the OL did not do well in the passing game either (weather ?)

I just hope his knee is ok this week. We lose a dimension if he can go at full strength.

. I'm sorry AW but it's always about the money. We are going to lose Becton to somebody.

It is about money but some guys will take a little less to be ….. somewhere the wife wants to be or somewhere near their family or somewhere warm or whatever. A little less not a lot less.
Howie has done a good job identifying what positions will get paid what. That isn’t a public figure but there is a figure. He may go a little above or a little below but he has a pay structure. In that structure you have to have young guys coming in to replace guys that will cost too much. Guard is a position that isn’t going to get tackle money and I think someone will offer Becton tackle money.

I agree it's sometimes about other things, but a lot depends on how old you are and if you are married or not. Moving to another team Also doesn't always work for both sides. I think defensive players Might be the biggest example Of that because a lot of times the defense plays better as a whole and how they mesh together And it shows up when they move to different teams. Huff is a great example of that as we know.

I still think Steen is better than Becton

I hope you're right because he will be our right guard next year, but there will be a falloff. I really like Steen but you dom't relpace a 370 pounder who can pound like him in the running game.

I'm a bit torn on Becton because of Steen. We have a solid back up in house and maybe should use those dollars elsewhere. That being said continuity is a big advantage. I also believe that money is important, but those tears from Becton were real. He has a connection with Stoutland and the rest of the OL. These kids are always told you are great, then he goes to a Jets team that sucks and tears him apart and nobody is calling you for a job after you are cut, he has to have a great deal of gratitude for what has happen this year and may be the kind of person that would take less to stay happy. I think DeVonta is similar. He is quickly surpassing AJ and chose to stay for enough money and to be happy. If he leaves, we are OK. If he stays, we have more depth.

I do think that what we have done with Becton and Fred Johnson will catch the eyes of some FA lineman and they may come on backup roles with a chance to prove more.

I don’t want to see Becton go but I understand the economics that Howie has to deal with. The key to Becton leaving and Steen replacing him is who replaces Steen. That is where Howie (and Stoutland) have to excel. The feeder program is what keeps you in the playoffs every year

Can we make qualifying offers to Johnson and Becton so we get a comp if they leave. I just read somewhere that Becton grades out to #17 out of 77 guards. I personally think having Becton in the offseason program could be huge. Steen can be our 6th lineman for another season. History says he will get some playing time. Becton I believe will give us a homer discount. IMO he might be out of the game or playing as a backup on a shit team if not for the foresight of Stout
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

The great thing about this team is I have no doubt that should Becton leave they will plug a guy in that can play that position. It is not as hard to find a RG as it is a LT/RT.

We need long term replacements for both Lane and Becton if he leaves but I think we can find those guys.

Sure you can find a guard But do you really think you're going to find a 370 pounder like him?

Watch what 77 does on these run plates and then tell me if you think Steen is better than him. Men his size just aren't supposed to be able to do this. He's got a big payday coming.

I do like Becton. He is huge and so physical. Some of his blocks are simply amazing

I just get frustrated with consistency. missed blocks, assignments, and whiffs. I also am not in love with a 6’8 guard and a 6’1 QB combo.

this team has rightly embraced being a running team. If they want more versatility, Steen is better imho.

The good thing is that both have strengths.

it just isn’t a huge drop like someone replacing Lane or Jordan.
