You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.
Why do athletes have such a hard time going out on top?
First , BG coming back is speculation. Second, if he does return, I don't care if it's as a player or coach. He brings all those intangibles that IMO the team is lacking. Graham did go out on top, but his team still has one of the best records in the league despite themselves. If he returns, it's because he was asked. I saw him earlier this season say that he has no desire to return. He jumps right back into a system he knows, he still has ability and if and when he gets in game shape, he steps in seamlessly. Not a lot better options that don't require compensation. When you only have a couple sacks from your DE group at the 7 game mark, that's not good. Let's see if it works out, but BG is still an NFL talent at 37 (?) For a dozenish snaps a game, it's worth a conversation
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.
The issue with BG to me is how much do they have to pay him. It better be the least amount possible and BG better be OK with that. I love the guy but we might also be trading for a DE/DL/CB and we will need to fit that guy under the cap too.
Again... totally love BG. His ability to play the Edge with leverage and strength has always been his biggest plus. He can hold the point and redirect inside which makes it difficult for the OT to just run him around the edge. If he can do that 20-22 plays a game I'm all in.

If he's in shape I'm all for it, but I can't imagine that he would be. I'm sure he hasn't been pounding the weight room like these guys do and keeping in shape generally. Then again we had help with Nedamaka Suh In the past so I imagine he could play. I can't imagine him not being as effective as the guys we now have anyway. It depends on what Howie has up his sleeve as far as trades go. Does anybody know how long it will be before we get Nolan Smith back?
The question is he in shape. Looks to be. Can he give you the 10-15 snaps a game that Smith was giving, I think he can. I also think they have to do more at the position.
Were from Philly F in Philly no one likes us we DON'T CARE!
I am so happy he's back. He probably won't even play this Sunday but he will have two weeks to get into shape. Meanwhile, I agree we still do need some more help.
Evidently he’s been working out at the facility for while

I’ve heard him on TV since the year began and he talks about being in the facility working out all year. I’m sure it wasn’t game shape working out but it wasn’t sitting at McD’s chewing burgers and nuggets.
I see him getting maybe ten snaps in second half of games when someone needs a blow
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
Hope is not a strategy
RIP

I think they needed his leadership more than anything. Smith is coming back and I think Campbell needs to stay at edge for a while. Dean and Baun looks like a better combo to me. Campbell looks too tentative at LB.

I still don't think this is enough because Nolan Smith and Hunt just aren't big enough and never will be. You need guys that can hold up at the point, keep that outside shoulder, and redirect inside every once in a while. BG can do that. Bradley Chubb can do that. Maybe Nolan Smith or Hunt can grow into that but they are not that right now.
So BG is here. Maybe he can give us 16-20 snaps a game. You'd have to think he is healthy and fresh. As a rotational DE he has something to offer and I am happy about this.
I also am excited to see Jakorian Bennett. I think he is a good player. He just needed to get and stay healthy.
