  • Trading AJ

I did some digging today and to me there is no way they trade AJ this year or next year.

The cap hit in 2026 would be massive. I believe it is $42 million and there is no way to restructure the deal to take that away.

Shy of getting two firsts for him which would allow you to basically sell your first round pick, I see no chance the Eagles trade the guy and kick that much salary cap dead money into next year.

Some of you are experts on this more than me so if you see the hit differently let me know but I asked CHATGPT and that was the number it spit back at me.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

Makes no sense this year. What about in the off season though? How does it look then?

As a position group WRs tend to get a case of chafed ass. Don’t know why but they do. If it was even money with no hurt to the Eagles I would say do it. But that isn’t the case so the birds are going to have to get him extra nights with the hookers or something to keep him happy until it makes sense to let him go. I wouldn’t let him near any driveways without supervision.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy

Do the Eagles win the Super Bowl last year without AJ Brown?

No. They don't. And, don't lie to yourself about it either.

I don't want him traded. I don't care if it's even money or whatever. Let's not forget how hard it is to get a guy like Brown.

I think it's only all media **** anyway. Let's face it, AJ is just a little different. He reads books on the sidelines for inspiration and then tweets things that only he could understand because they're so vague. He's happy and so are the Eagles. He's not going anywhere and I'm happy about that.

TO was happy as hell until he wasn’t. Brown is a top ten receiver in the NFL so no one in their right mind would want him gone. Unless, and I don’t know we are there but unless, he lets a ten cent head get in his way. Anyone who doesn’t believe one knucklehead can blow up a team is deceiving themselves. Hell I believe the birds would take the cap hit if it got bad enough.
Eagle fans have lived through and seen plenty of knucklehead drama with both TO and Wentz.

Yes, AJ is a 43 million 2026 cap hit if we trade him anytime before next June 1, meaning most of next offseason too. That is kind of the deal with that contract structure of moving money to the future -- it's hard to even trade those guys after a few years of that, so you better be sure you want them.

I'm hoping it's not a big deal, and as Patullo gets better they will be throwing more. Teams are going to sit on Saquon until we shred them repeatedly with the pass. They *should* be using Brown more. If Patullo doesn't get much better, he probably gets changed out before AJ Brown does.

I definitely dont want him gone. But it takes two to tango. If we get to or even win another superbowl and his numbers are average, i can TOTALLY see him being difficult and wanting out.

Not TO or anything. Just enough uncomfortable to maybe even have the Eagles draft a WR early and possibly look into moving him post June.

                thats for next year though

Why Dawk, He's not a troublemaker. I'm not seeing what the problem is other than he speaks in riddles that the brothers in the can't even understand. So he's eccentric, big deal. He's a stud, that's all I care about.

Publicly it’s the book snd the posts in the midst of winning. Privately there may be more to it and he and the team have been doing a decent job of masking it. So far.

The big thing with AJ is does it impact the locker room really. Does he have followers. Meaning... are other guys quietly supporting him because maybe they too are disgruntled. I think the answer to that is no. Everything I see is that Dotson and Metchie are team guys. And we know D Smith is. So AJ can whine all he wants but unless he has the locker room on his side it's fine.

My prediction is that AJ is going to come back next week with a better attitude. Mainly because the team is throwing better. It's a tough matchup though. Green Bay has a great pass rush. So there may be a pretty big bump in the road coming for the offense. At least next week.

Well all I can say is that AJ had better get happy because he's not going to get traded. I think the whole thing is overblown anyway. Sports writers pay way too much attention to these tweets.

AJ is a real cerebral guy qnd a little eccentric too. That's a nice way of saying that he's a bit of a Drama Queen! Here is an interesting article on him with some you might be interested in.

Good article, thanks. That was more or less what it felt like, which was that he does have more fun with more targets, and would like the ball more. And the offense going into those long series of three and outs really doesn't let that happen. Last couple of games have looked better on offense; remains to be seen if that was just worse opponents or actual improvement (certainly the two Giants games were very very different). So... some hope. He should be happier if the offense is more like the last couple of games (though he wasn't targeted that much vs Minnesota -- just that he made the most of the ones he got). I think if the offense is rolling, he'd be happy, even if wasn't always him. It's just when it's not as good as it should be, and he's not getting the ball, he's frustrated (as are fans for that matter).

Well, the guy was king of the hill in the 2024 season. Didn't he come out of the gate and broke some kind of receiving records for the first five or six games with receiving yards per game? I think his numbers were insane. They were something like a 150 yards per game. Obviously, his numbers have fallen off the cliff compared to last year when all they did was throw to him for most of the year. I think we were all complaining that Hurts looked for him too much. I guess just about anybody would be puzzled as to why they weren't getting the ball after they had such success the year before with that game plan.

That was 2023. He had 1400+ yards in both 2022 and 2023, but just over 1000 last year (granted he missed three games and sat the last one). He has just 395 this year through half a season and has just missed the one game. I don't think he got his fix from last year's offense but they of course were winning well so no large issue.
