Jets sending CB Michael Carter and a 2027 seventh rd pick for WR John Metchie and a 2027 Sixth rd pick per Adam Shefter
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

If he helps fill that CB cavern, that's enough of a highlight for me

          FWIW:

[Rapsheet] Here's how badly Michael Carter II wanted to join the champs: Sources say he agreed to delete the $5M guaranteed for injury in his 2026 contract year to complete the trade to the #Eagles.

Thought I heard he's more of a slot corner. Either it's to let DeJean be outside more, or it's just injury protection. Or maybe he will be in the mix to see who's best between Ringo, Bennett, and Jackson (if he gets healthy). Don't think Metchie is a big loss now that Darius Cooper is back.

Anyways, worth a shot, and he can be cut easily if not. No way he's on the team next year at his salary. Nearly inconsequential pick swap, most likely.

"Michael Carter II's ranking varies significantly by year and source; he was a top nickel corner in 2023 but has struggled in 2025, ranking 111th out of 113 cornerbacks by Pro Football Focus (PFF). In 2023, PFF graded him as the second-best nickel cornerback in the NFL, but his 2025 performance has led to a trade from the Jets to the Eagles."

Whew. He's not the worst rated CB

Hopefully Vic can get him playing well again.

Is anyone on the Jets playing well?

Hey, they brought this guy in for a reason. Last year he signed a three year contract for $30 million!!

Certainly has played well in the past even though he hasn’t played well this year. I’m in the camp thinking that, although I liked the Metchie pickup he is really expendable at this point. Carter is worth the shot. I don’t see him stepping into a starting role. As someone above said I see him competing with the three or four others who haven’t been able to nail down the position.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
                    Hope is not a strategy

From what I've read he's had some injuries that have slowed him down. Like I said above, You don't pay a guy that kind of money to sit on a bench.

been checking out some video. This guy was an exceptional slot playing for the sorry fucking Jets, watching a Justin Fields lead offense and knew there was no chance of competing. He's going to transform the defense. He is very good against the run, he plays the run like a LB. He bumps Cooper outside fulltime and it gives Vic another piece to play with. If we have everyone back and add this guy, you have a top 5 defense. The O will get a lot more chances and I believe you see more 3 and outs, flopping field position. We've had lousy field position all year. First and foremost it gets avoid contact Adore Jackson and Kelee missed tackle , tight hips Ringo off the field. Vic's not covering for anyone. He has 11 guys that will bring it every play.I see a good string of dominate wins coming

With Epps going on the IR, this move makes more sense now. Carter can fill in at nickel if Cooper has to move to safety. I
