Thanks Howie !! Phillips has some excellent numbers on a pretty poor unit. Those numbers could be a bit better on a good D. To get him for essentially an early 4th is a good deal. We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

Phillips is a free agent in the offseason so if the Eagles let him walk they could get a compensatory pick for him. Howie is a genius. And the Dolphins are clearly tanking now.You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

Was looking at one of his highlight videos. 6’5 263 and it looks like he plays the run well and gets lots of pressure. Next to Carter and Davis, he could be specialWe're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. Yea I don’t see any downside. Not getting beat up in the salary or cap and the birds kept the better of the two third round picks and he’ll be a free agent so Howie can negotiate a contract rather than being saddled with one. Injury possibility? Yea maybe but I don’t see the downside.Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
Hope is not a strategy

He is not going to last long with a knee and Achilles rehab already but Josh Sweat was playing I think on a 2 or maybe even 3 ACL injuries.
We don't need Phillips to be an every down player. We need him to platoon with Smith, Hunt, Graham and him. Plus, we flip Ojomo and Carter out there. We need fastballs and that is what he is.You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

Not a fan of this one at all. A day 2 pick for a guy who has clearly not recovered from back to back years of Achilles tear then an ACL tear. Most of his pressure this year has come rushing over the Guard and Center as a stand up linebacker. We have a darn good one in Baun who can do that. I hope Howie is right on this. Otherwise he will just be another in a long line of bad in season trades, Golden Tate, Robert Quinn, Genard Avery, Kary Vincent to name a few. At least he did get Jay Ajayi but that was many moons ago.
Also before we think we will get a comp pick when he leaves., His numbers don't scream big signing guy. He won't even get Josh Sweat money. At think at best we will get a 5th rounder in 2027 and that is if he can come in and get 4 or 5 sacks in the next 9 games.
We really needed someone that IS vs someone who could be. I will tell this, Phillips may have trouble even getting on the field. Uche has better pressure and hurry numbers, Nolan Smith when he returns is clearly our best rusher and Hunt has been starting all year. I doubt they stunt his growth, especially since he has been playing pretty well lately. Oh and BG is going to need some snaps.
The real loser in all of this is Jihad Campbell who probably takes a seat on the bench now. Patrick Johnson probably gets cut to.Were from Philly F in Philly no one likes us we DON'T CARE!

Interesting take on Phillips Taz. I think he will play 30-35 plays a game and be impactful but we shall see.You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

Really hope you are right. Would love to be wrong on this one. I know a few folks who are Dolphins fans and they have said we got fleeced. He is not the same player he was before the injuries.Originally posted by andrewaters View PostInteresting take on Phillips Taz. I don't see 30-35 snaps available unless you are going to stunt Campbell and Hunts growth. Figure 45 each for Smith and Hunt. Gives you about 30-40 snaps to divide between Uche (who has better pressure and hurry rates than Phillips) BG and Phillips. Also they are have to get Campbell on the field some. We gave up a day 2 pick for a guy who honestly should only get 10-15 snaps a game. That is just a bad addition.
Like I said we needed an IS guy, a guy like Trey Henderickson not a could be. We have a bunch of could be's.
One caveat. Smith has not had his practice window open. Just like when we got Carter, we didn't know that Epps was hurt. This could be a sign that Smith is not ready knor is close to ready to come back. If that is the case the deal makes more sense but still is an severe overpay. Were from Philly F in Philly no one likes us we DON'T CARE!

sorry, but I think Campbell needs to earn his way. I think he is too soft. He seems to avoid contact. I think he tries to work around blocks that he should be fighting through. I sure don't think I've seen enough for him to supplant Dean or Baun and he got a chance to play edge and they went out and got another a week later. Am I out to lunch ?Originally posted by Eagle60 View PostUnless he plays like Nadamaka Sue did It won't I make a lot of sense. I hate to see Campbell on the bench if that's going to be the result.
