  • Rewatched the Game

Couldn't sleep so I decided to rewatch the game. The offensive line and Barkley were even worse than I thought watching it real time. The Special teams were pathetic. Injuries are going to be a huge problem on Friday

    1. On a run by Barkley oline opens a crease, Barkley runs past the crease into a defender spins back into the hole (which is now closed) and gains two yards. If he hits the hole its at least a 6 yard gain maybe more. Instead of 2nd and 4 its 2nd and 8.

Conversely. Tank Bigsby same run call, he hits the crease and gains 8 yards.

    2. Outside run to Barkley gains 1 yard, he again runs past the cut back and goes out of bounds. The hole was there, another miss that could have been at least 5 yards. Instead of 2nd and 5 its 2nd and 8

    3. Another one 1st and 10 Barkley runs up the middle, there was a crease to his left. He went to his right. 2 Yard gain. If he goes to the left he may have still been running.

    4. Cam Jurgens runs past Williams to block no one, Williams stops Barkley for a 3 yard loss. 2nd and 13

    5. Up 21-0 drive before the end of the half. Cam Jurgens false start on a 3rd and 2, becomes a 3rd and 7, he and Dickerson then give up quick pressure and Hurts throws incomplete to a Devonta Smith who had no chance to catch the throw because it was rushed.

    6. First drive out of the half, 2nd and 7, Hurts completes a 20 yard pass to Dallas Goedert down to Dallas 40. Penalty on the play, Toth lined up offsides. Next play insta pressure,(cost them points in this one).

    7. The next two series the Cowboys played in the Eagles backfield. They missed blocks and Hurts on two of them looked indecisive.

    8. The series that cost them the game. 1st and 10 at the Dallas 43. Pass to Goedert gets them to the 33 yard line. OPI called on Devonta Smith. Then AJ "Crybaby" Brown false starts, 1st and 25. They manage to get 19 of those yards back. Elliot misses a 57 yard field goal, just wide right. If Crybaby holds his water, they probably get those points.

    9. 2nd and 7 on the Dallas 28, Well within FG range. 16 yard pass completed to Smith. Called back for hands to the face on Fred Johnson. Now 2nd and 17 at Dallas 38. Quick pressure Hurts dumps it to Barkley who fumbles it.

    10. Last drive, Eagles get the ball at their own 2. Drive it out to the 37. Hurts takes a really dumb sack on 3rd and 2. Goedert was open enough that you throw him the ball there, right in his vision and he was looking his way. Really bad play by Hurts on that one.

    Bonus
    Special Teams were horrible.

The last drive, Mann gets off a great punt. Has Dallas at their own 20. Ringo was called for player out of bounds. I didn't see, It was a touchback. This one was confusing since the replays thought the ball hit the scoreboard. Next punt gets returned to the 40 but invalid punt signal on the Cowboys they start at the 32. 12 yards means something.

    Injuries
The Eagles are down to Sydney Brown at safety. Mukuba might be done for the year. He was in a walking boot and crutches. Blankenship has a quad injury that could be a few weeks. Epps is already on the IR. Gibson has a dislocated shoulder. That is a few week injury (probably put him on IR). Ojomo has a shoulder injury. Jackson has a concussion doubt he can get through protocol by Friday. None of these guys returned to the game. In addition Dickerson has a knee, he probably plays but they may be better off not playing him. Right now he is one of the worst players on this team. He can't move.
My assumption is Andre Sam will get evaluated from the PS to play Friday at one safety position. Depending on other injuries they may or may not bring up Covey. They could use Dotson and save the spot for another defensive back like Nickerson.

Yeesh, I guess my eyes did not deceive me.

Re: Safety. Do you think they'd call up Justin Simmons?

Dickerson has been pretty good when he plays. Jurgens has looked like one of the worst centers in football. Getting beat constantly. Slow and late on any movement. Hopefully it’s just the injuries from last year and this. If not, we have a center issue long term and it was just one good year for him.

Dawk... Fran shared a video yesterday of a play that Saquon got blown up on. I agree Jurgens is taking a step back but the play design on the play I saw was ridiculous. You can't expect Jurgens to reach block Williams on that play. He just got upfield and Jurgens had no chance. I think Jurgens and the OL as a whole has regressed but the play design is not good. They are asking for the impossible.

And... the run they highlighted that Saquon ran into the boundary. He had a 5-6 yard game had he cut upfield. The lane was there. Saquon is either not seeing the field like he did last year or has lost a step or the capacity to cut upfield.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.
