  • Eagles vs Commanders Observations

NFC East Champs once again. Since 2001, The Eagles have won this division 11 times. Pretty good. First time a back to back division winner since the 2001-2004 Eagles.

    1. Hurts - Very efficient game, still looked slow at times on his reads. Also that fumble during the 2 minutes drill at the end of the first half. If the play is not there, throw it out of bounds, He wound up like he was going to throw it and then pull it back. We never got a down field look but know the situation, live to fight another down. Those 6 yards he lost were critical.

    2. Offensive Iine - I thought they had there best game of the year. They really let up some pressure at times but overall good game. They opened up holes in the run game for both Barkley and Bigsby. The paved the way for 200 yards on the ground.

    3. Nice play by Cooper Dejean to bait Johnson into that Pick. That is how this team won games last year, Turnovers setting up the offense with short fields for TD's.

    4. Unfortunately though they Defense just seems to be allergic to forcing 3 and outs. Starting drives at the 10 yard line is just not a recipe for success, especially when your field goal kicker is in a major slump and probably should be replaced.

5 Missy Elliot - Too many misses , I love what this guy has done for this team since the first Super Bowl win, however I think the time has come to say goodbye. I watched the last miss, the snap and hold were perfect, laces out, he just hooked it.

    6. Jordan Davis - Pay the man. He was tossing offensive lineman around like rag dolls.

    7. Nakobe Dean - The dude is made of glass. When he is on the field he is a top 10 linebacker in the game. The problem is he just misses too much time. I think they will need to let him go in the offseason unless he signs a very team friendly deal.

    8. Campbell - Thought he played is best game of the year. Drew a holding penalty on a pass rush, covered well. Wound up with six tackles a TFL and a pass defended. Not bad for not even starting the game and not playing much lately. Fangio really needs to figure a way to get this kid on the field and I am not so sure its as a pass rusher. he can cover, maybe play him as a big safety at times, especially when teams are running against you.

    9. The Special Teams - Overall they just are not playing well. The kickoff and punt return units are struggling mightly. I know Shipley fumbled today and I am not as made at that as I am being indecisive on the ball kicked into the end zone. You have to know you can take knee there at get it at the 35, it was not kicked into the landing zone.

Finally the fight. I think Washington is a flat out dirty team. Lots of chippieness throughout the game. Lots a hits that were borderline, smacking the ball out of the ball carriers hands well after the whistle (BTW the refs should have thrown a penalty or two on these and I am not sure that fight ever happens). Once the game was in hand, I commend Steen for showing the fire to put these losers in their place. A well earned respect wise ejection in this humble fans opinion. However I was not happy with the rest of the team letting him get ganged up on and pummeled at the bottom of the pile without his helmet. Sometimes things like this spark teams. We will see.

Merry Christmas to all we are NFC East Champs once again.

The bears look terrible tonight. They really caught us at the worst time. If anything I think JC was hurt that day right?

Barkley was on a mission , he made his own holes if they weren't there. I really look forward to seeing Fred as a jumbo when Lane returns.

Davis was a beast and I'm anxious to add Carter back into the rotation. BG is a wrecking ball , how the hell he puts offensive linemen on skates is amazing. Campbell is an inside LB. We need Nakobe to be healthy. I saw McNichols make him his bitch because Campbell cannot play physical football. He cannot defeat a blocker of any size.

Jackson looked more like the early version and nothing like the last few weeks.

AJ has his groove back and Goedert has earned himself some more money.

I really want to see us compete with Buffalo. Bring back Carter and Johnson and go to a tough stadium and let it all hang out

PS Fuck Dallas and their trolling asshole fans.

All good takes Taz. We are going to have to put up with Jake I’m afraid. It’s a $6 million cap hit next year to cut him. I don’t think you can just eat that for a kicker. The only thing maybe that could help you stomach it would be a kicker on the cheap. If you signed a rookie or UDFA and paid him the bare minimum it would allow you to move on from Jake cuz you’d be paying him TOO kick. So paying him NOT to kick is easier when his replacement is cheap.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

Not a good time to look for a kicker

Sign a kicker to the practice squad and then just elevate him for games. A six mill cap hit really isn't that much. Especially for such a critical position on the team. In a day and age of 50 plus yard field goals being routine, he is 5 for 15 in them in the past two seasons. They need to move on cap hit be damned.

Taz… agree. You could put a kicker on the PS and elevate. But $6 million on an offseason where you must extend Davis and maybe Jalen Carter plus trade AJ and take that hit. You need everything you can save. Giving a kicker the money Howie gave Jake to me is his biggest mistake as a GM.

you need a great kicker but you can’t pay this kind of money to one.

We are stuck with Jake and he is cooked. We're porked.

After the game, Elliott acknowledged the disappointment, making it clear the misses stayed with him regardless of the final result. “It’s just frustrating. I hit the ball well pre-game, and feel like I had a good plan, and then I don’t go through in the game… I’ve gotta figure some stuff out,” Elliott said, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

he missed the same kick 3 times in a row. (2 that counted.)

Like come on dude, aim 5 feet to your right.

but I get it, I aim 5 yards to the right and the ball goes to the same spot in the water.

Tank Bigsby is a hell of a #2 RB. What a win for Howie. Saquon dances a bit looking for a hole. Bigsby just runs over people. He is a great change of pace back and it seems like we lose nothing when he replaces Saquon.

The Eagle's season has been a success for me. At a minimum, I wanted us to repeat as NFC East champs and have Dallas miss the playoffs. Both have come true. I can just sit back and enjoy the rest of the season.

                            Great observations all!

                            1. Elliot is a problem that must be addressed. But all of the Special Teams is a serious problem all across the board.
                            2. Defense is so good but they have to get off the field. Way too many longer drives that may not result in points but do create bad field position for the offense
                            3. JD must get paid
                            4. Nakobe may not get paid
                            5. Campbell may be a safety next year with Mukuba and Epps
6.It seems that the entire offense want to get themselves together. Barkley now over 100p yards and AJ Davonta will probably go over next week. Dallas a career high in TDs yet this offense has been bad. If they can get it together it's a wrap and repeat Champs
                            7. F Dan Quinn and the Commanders although I do really like McLaurin Bobby Wagner and Daniels.

Nakobe can't stay on the field. That might keep him in Philly on a discounted deal for a year or 2.

One thing about Bigsby... he is a different style runner than Saquon. He gets it and runs downhill immediately. Even when he is running at that 45 degree angle to the LOS on a stretch play he is leaning towards the middle. That gives the defense something else to think about. Bigsby was a locker room issue in Jacksonville which is why they let him go according to my buddy who covers the Jags now. And he is signed through the end of next year. I'm out on Shipley now though. You just CANNOT fumble. You can't. Not when you are a ST guy and your job is to get what you can get an not fumble.
