  • Eagles Vs Bill Obervations

A win is a win is a win. Especially in those conditions

However Houston we have some issues.

    1. Hurts - Not very good in this game. Ok in the first half, seemed like he just wanted to throw the ball deep in the second half. I have to look at the All 22 but he just didn't play well at all in the 2nd half. He was not seeing the field, now again the conditions but still.

    2. Barkley - Not a good game, I am really getting tired of the the slow down just keep moving your feet. I get it, Cam Jurgens can't block worth a damn but he is turning plays that should at least get to the LOS to 2 yard loses.

    3. Offensive Line - Horrible play the entire game. How the hell is Cam Jurgens a Pro Bowler, He was getting trucked all damn game.

    4. The Defense - Very lucky unit at the end. They played great for 3 1/2 quarters. Then much like the offense they go into conservative mode. The fact that hook and ladder worked so well I mean come on, two eligible receivers with nobody around them? That is because of Fangio and his soft zones. That shit doesn't work. They needed to stay aggressive if they did, they would have won that game 13-7.

    5. The officiating - Absolutely brutal. Devonta's was a catch, Hurts was hit out of bounds, That was PI against AJ Brown, The announcers said how great it was of a hit on Devonta near the goal line. Um that was illegal contact, 8 yards from the LOS. Those three series resulted in a total of 6 points. They most likely would have been at least 14. That is just horrible to have an officiating crew so bad. The funny thing is this the first time this year the other team had more penalties than we did. We had 3 they had 4. It was the missed calls and the calls that were made that are the problem. What is a catch? What is PI? I mean there is a rule book.

Overall this is a win. That is what matters but they need to clean things up. Period.

I put Zero blame on the defense. They played a great offense in their house and beat em.

They were so gassed at the end because our offense is dogshit.

I agree with you about Barkley. I want more Tank carries. He seems to just hit the hole.

You simply can not give up a TD at the end. The thing that bothered me the most is they had them on the ropes and they let up a hook and ladder with no one around either player. That is the blame. Fangio decided to go soft zone there instead of staying aggressive and he got burned big time. He seems to do that way too much. This defense thrives on being aggressive.
In fact the blame to me in the fact that they went conservative on both offense and defense. The conservative offense is really a huge problem This is where they need an offensive consultant in Patullo ear to stay aggressive.

The defense was lights out for 55 minutes then ran out of gas! Great gameplay overall! Bottled up Cook which helped keep Allen at bay! Allen was confused a lot of the game until he was let off the hook by going conservative.
I am so sick and tired if this risk averse offense. But really the Oline was terrible today. The Bills are 31st against the run and Eagles did nothing! Too many missed blocks! Just brutal!
The officials are truly killing the game. No PI for AJ No PI for Davonta! The overturned Smitty catch no review of the Shavers catch. Still have no idea why therew was no personal foul for the hit on Hurts! It just gets worse every week.

Nick: STHU! Your offense was atrocious! Your OC is a joke! Just thank the defense and keep your mouth shut.

Defense was awesome. They got a couple of stops when I thought it was beginning to ask too much. Then we went 3-and-out so much that eventually it was too much. They got tired as they played almost the entire second half.

The offense, when they are in their aggressive mode, now seems to be an NFL offense and is probably good enough to win with this defense. When they get their two-score lead, and go into no-turnovers mode, boy is it ugly. Seems like they preferred no turnovers and hoped the defense could outlast the lead. They did, but got lucky that the two-point conversion wasn't completed (and the blocked extra point earlier). Sure seemed like the Bills were likely to win in overtime, unless the Eagles would go back to aggressive mode -- unsure it's easy to just turn it back on again.

The faint hope is that they didn't want to put too much on film in a game that may not matter a whole lot. They had clinched the #3 seed earlier with the Panthers loss earlier, and #2 seed remains a long shot. The defense is Super Bowl caliber, and the first-half offense is probably enough to compete given that defense. The turtling prevent offense mode they seem to have is a bad idea other than maybe with a two-score lead and five minutes left. Not 30 minutes left. Running game remains predictable, and attackable, though they have gotten a few decent runs off recently so it's not completely inept.

Defense played great. Regardless of so many crazy contested catches the Bills made.

really hope the O was being a little conservative because the 2 seed may not mean that much. Cuz that second half was bad. No passes to HBs? No short shots over the middle? Bills were loading the box and we did nothing to beat it.

D def won this game. Including JCs huge blocked xp

I hate the Niners but they did us a favor beating the Bears. 2nd seed is still on the menu boys.

So, if Eagles beat Washington and if the Lions beat the Bears we are the #2 seed against Green Bay

If the Bears win, we are #3 seed against the Rams or 49ers

Big difference in opponents. Green Bay is slumping.

                Go Lions

On the last Eagle drive Buffalo had 9 men in the box on one play and Jalen still did not change the play. That's on him, not Patullo.

That soft stuff drives me nuts. Esp when I see Jackson sitting off WR and giving him 6-7 free yards routinely. To be fair though he has played better second half of year and Vic calls for it.
Having said that I can’t bitch about a D that stifled a top two or three offense like they did. Esp after the O goes three and out in 60 seconds time after time and gains 17 yards (17 Yards) in a half. Add in the two of the catches the O did make were great coverage with the ball coming loose and landing in the receivers chest.
Birds were lucky to escape as Allen rarely misses the receiver like he did on the two point conversion but the D played hard. The O (HURTS) has to step up. The OL is banged up and he needs to be the guy to step up for them.

Another observation for me was Elliot hitting two FGs. I’m guessing if I asked before the game who thought he would hit two FGs in pouring rain not many would be in his court. Birds (Sirianni) damn lucky he was on his game.

And how about that dumbass McDermott voting to do away with the push but using it at the goal line. I was a fan of his until he started that crap last year

Gotta give kudos to Epps. He has been fantastic.

time to let Sydney go. He’s just a penalty waiting to happen on STs and just is not a starting safety in this league

I think they showed exactly what they are going to be yesterday. They put it on the D , they ran 20 some times. They generally win when they run 20-25 times. The defense held Allen and Cook to nothing other than the TD drive. Cooks played over his head and Buffalo got some beneficial penalties. Against that O , the defensive showing was spectacular.

On Offense, We had a very efficient first half. We didn't manage much in the second half, but think about what Hurts did. We had a perfect throw to AJ where the receiver had his left arm in an arm bar and he threw a perfect ball to Smitty that was overturned on a 50/50 call by the replay guy. He threw the ball away about 4 times and his incompletions were balls on his receivers hands placed in a spot only they could catch them and all this in that weather and without the benefit of any penalties. Hurts won the turnover battle. Another stat leading a Sirianni team to victory.
They didn't get the calls or the results on some plays, BUT add that AJ TD and the Smitty catch and we are up 20 something points. We didn't take any chances with the O and we put it entirely in the defenses hands. That's what we are going to see the rest of the way.

Don't discount the fact that we went to one of the toughest venues against one of the best teams in the league. This young team has played a tough schedule, played the other teams SB and played against actual playoff teams and still hasn't played a complete game. They are 11-5 by the way

The playoffs are going to be very interesting

We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.
