  • Who goes?

What are the chances they go …..
    A. Sirianni
    B. Patullo
    C. A J
    D. Hurts
    E. Goedert

Myself I ask Sirianni to give me three names he wants for his new OC. If there is flack I tell him as to changing OCs I tell him it is that or you are gone.
I calm around and if there is interest in AJ I am willing to let him go. But I’m not taking junk in return. It would have to be a good offer.
I wouldn’t call around but if someone calls I will listen to them on Hurts but I don’t think he is going anywhere.
Goedert is pricey but short of breaking the bank I do all I can to keep him.
There will be money issues trying to keep everyone on D but you can’t run this same Sirianni/Patullo offense back. Sirianni/Patullo don’t drop passes or miss blocks but they set the tone and no one can say this offense was good or efficient or dynamic or anything other than dysfunctional
    So who goes?
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
    Hope is not a strategy

The players are a reflection of the coaching staff. Yes the penalties, dropped balls and stupid passes into coverage are 100% on the players, but we have watched this all season (and lat season before the bye) and it continues. That’s on the coaches. It’s their job to identify the problems come up with solutions and coach the players to prevent it from continuing. They have completely failed in doing that.

My biggest frustration yesterday was the moronic playcalling and lack of judgment in both the players and the coaches. All seasonal, we have watched this team come out struggle offensively. When they are able do well on offense in the first half, they end up being completely shut down in the second half when the defense has a chance to implement counters to the Eagles game plan. Patullo simply isn’t able to adjust to those changes on the fly. The fact that Sirriani refuses to hold Pattulo accountable in fixing this is completely unacceptable. I don’t think there’s any chance at all Nick leaves, but I think it’s time he’s given an ultimatum to stop putting friendship before the team performance. If Patullo can’t do the job, he needs to step back and allow someone in who can. If Nick won’t accept that then he’s gone too.

To answer your question I don’t see any way in the world they can bring back KP. I also think AJ is now uncoachable, at least with this staff. If we can get a first for him I’d take in a heartbeat and use it to draft a young receiver, who can eventually become a number one.

I think A.J., Patullo and Goedert are all gone. Goedert is 31 and had his best year ever. He is going to want to be paid and some team is going to pay him. Let him walk. You can find a TE like him in the draft on day 2. The only thing that would concern me about letting him walk is Grant C is also a free agent and you aren't going to retain him either probably. As bad of a blocker as he is, someone is likely going to overpay for him. Do you want to replace 2 TEs? I mean I am good with that but that might put a premium on keeping Goedert.

A.J. might be back if they move quickly on an OC and A.J. is happy with the choice. A.J. is a diva but he also was proven mostly right. The route tree sucked all year and it never improved. He can't be angry at Jalen anymore honestly because what I saw was a QB throwing to him more in the second half of the season and A.J. did drop some balls. A.J. belongs here and if they can figure out a way to keep him I would because the cap hit would be enormous but also they could see the 2nd round pick you might get for him as attractive. He could actually be a draft day trade.

Patullo must go and if Nick refuses to fire him you fire Nick. That might sound crazy but they did that with Doug Pederson. Doug didn't want to figure his OC in 2020 and so the fired Doug. Nick I think is going to be reasonable here and Patullo will find a home. Hell... he might end up on the Penn State staff.

The single most important decision the team has to make this offseason is who is the OC next year. If Nick won't make the move you could fire him and elevate Vic to the HC. Then bring in Daboll or McDaniel to run the offense.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

Siranni stays kind of ludicrous to even think about firing the 2nd most winniest coach ever. He just won a Super Bowl last year. No way no how Lurie gets rid of him.

As far as coaches go I am looking at all of them, as you should every year. If I am Siranni I am scrutinizing every play call on both sides of the ball. I am scrutinizing the players effort and execution. What the outcomes are I don't know. I know we have our share of everything this year on both sides.

Long time guys like Jeff Stoutland shouldn't be buying anything on time. I am sorry but that offensive line and the run game was the story of this season. He is in charge of both. We can talk about play calls all you want but when your center can't even slow down a DT, your outside guys don't know how to block slanted defensive lineman you have major problems. All we heard about is how banged up they were. But were they or was that just an excuse. If you good enough to play then you need to execute otherwise next man up. That is on the coaching staff. Jurgens should have been benched, they had to figure out the stunts. This isn't rocket science and I am really stunned that Stoutland couldn't figure it out. Even more stunning is not a word about him in the media. Coaches no matter how good they are get stall. Andy did, Harbaugh down in Baltimore did. Love Stout but it may be time. He may have run his course.

I could care less if Patullo stays or goes. I saw some good things, they were really good in the red zone, like top of the league good. Getting there was a problem. He figured out how to use the TE like others didn't. Goedert wind up having a great year because of it. Is it something to build on probably. Should they give him another year maybe, depends on what is out there. The names like McDaniel and Daboll are not coming here to be the OC. They are going most likely get HC jobs and in the case of Daboll he probably would rather go to a team with a more unstable head coaching position so there is a chance he takes over mid year. At the very least I am bringing in Frank Reich as an offense consultant. He was suppose to do that last year, at the last minute he go the offer to temp head coach in college. The fact that they didn't bring in anyone in that position though is where they didn't do Patullo any favors. I think if they had Reich this offense would have looked better.

Vic isn't going to change, Vic is going to lose us a few games a year like yesterday because he is too stubborn to change it up and blitz more. They gave up more big plays yesterday than they did all year. Why because they couldn't get pressure. Why couldn't they get pressure the san fran lineman were holding pretty bad. They were not getting the calls, you can't rely on a biased officiating situation. You have to take matters into your hands and blitzing was the way to do it. The funny thing is when he did blitz it worked great. Two Int's etc. The fact is this, they didn't blitz at all on that last TD. That cost them the game. Hold them to a FG and your offense still has a chance. They failed yesterday. As much as he pisses me off, they are not going to fire him and quite frankly they shouldn't but he needs to adjust more. He needs to figure out a ways to create more pressure and its not just with the 4 down lineman. He needs to tightened up the zones. That is the next evolution of this defense.

Players, we have 18 free agents. Most of them are role players. The players they should bring back are Phillips & Mann for sure. Blankenship or Epps (I really liked the way Epps played he will be cheaper than Blankenship and Mukuba could shift over to a more natural deep safety).I would also bring back Fred Johnson.

So the other one that makes sense to bring back is Goedert. Why you say. Well he is a 20 million dollar cap hit this year as a void year. They could give him 15 mill this year up front cash, take that and the cap hit and spread it over 3yrs and only have an 11 mill cap hit this year. So you gain 9 mill on the cap and you keep the player. Plus the entire TE group are FA.

Ill go into this a little more in a separate post. AJ Brown is not going anywhere BTW they can't afford the cap hit, no matter how much they work on it.

Taz... I tend to agree with you on A.J. They can't afford to cut him.

You and I are just going to have to agree to disagree on Patullo. IMO the guy was a disaster all year. And I don't claim to be the football expert here but I do watch a lot. I also follow a lot of the experts on X. There is a local X account called Honest NFL and this guy seems to be in the Philadelphia area and is a retired coach for either college or NFL. He links all the time to a drop box of schemes that he claims to have run and these are intricate schematic diagrams that he draws out in his posts and breakdowns. He hammers Patullo constantly. Not Hurts as much.

Also... Baldinger, McNabb, Orlovsky, Kurt Warner. They point at the scheme. Now we have to admit that some of what they don't do might be because they don't think Hurts can do it. And that's fine. But it's not as if Hurts can't do anything. He won a Super Bowl and came within a whisker of winning another. Build your offense around that.

I also disagree on the run game stuff. The offensive line definitely took a step backwards but we made ZERO adjustments all year in the running game to compensate for what DL were doing to us up front. Patullo is the first to go. Like TODAY.

            My rough estimation.

What are the chances they go …..

            A. Sirianni - 5% (team underachieved, but didn't tank like Doug's SB winning team)
            B. Patullo - 75% (one can only hope. Much better options)
            C. A J - 50% (post June 1 trade only)
            D. Hurts - 0% (not going anywhere this year. 2027 maybe)
            E. Goedert - 50% (Injuries, age, he would have to want to come back on a team friendly deal)

I think there is more brewing with AJ than we know.

PS-We still have a lot of dead money in 2026 ($45m). That sucks. Bryce Huff was a big one.

Board is acting up so I can't quote you Andre, I have have mad respect for you but I think sometimes we (myself included) get too caught up in the it has to one guys fault syndrome.

Like I said I could care less if Patullo stays or goes. But if everyone thinks just changing the OC is going to magically fix this offense you are sorely mistaken. Patullo didn't commit all those penalties that stalled drives the players did. To the tune of average 5 offensive penalties a game. Patullo wasn't first in missed blocks like Jurgens was. Those are player issues. Issues that really hurt this team. Were they going to be a great offense if Jurgens preformed up to his capabilities, NO, but they would have been better, in fact they would have been plenty good for a long playoff run. Again yesterday it showed up. Dropped footballs by AJ Brown, Drop by Saquan Barkley both ended drives, both should have been caught, The team on the other side was making those plays with no names. Is that the OC's fault no ITS THE PLAYERS. Jalen runs for a first down into 49ers territory, Jurgens gets flagged for a hold that he didn't need to hold on. Behind the sticks again another drive stalls out. Its really hard to convert 2nd and 20. The Eagles offense isn't playing against the Fangio soft zone. Team are heating them up when they get into those long distance situations. Onto the next series. Jurgens gets blown up 1 yard gain, next play Calcettera gets blown up 3 yard loss. 3rd and 12, it was like this the entire year. Blame the players, Blame the coaches, Hell blame Howie Roseman for having three tight ends who are pass catching tight ends and not one run blocker. It is more than just the OC. That is all I am trying to say. Changing the OC is not going to magically fix this offense.

One other thing. Jalen is too hesitant at times and we can probably say that on other QB's to. There were several times yesterday that all he needed to do was zip into to a receiver in the middle of the field, yes there was good coverage and no the receiver wasn't college open but he was open enough for that ball to go in there. I see Jalen bouncing out to his right too much in those situations. That is where the QB coach has to work with him. Now the fact is he has never had consistent QB coaching. Hopefully we can get some consistently there. He did it early in the game on a throw to Cooper BTW and he had another one to Shipley that he threw a McNabb ball to , if he leads him its a TD. Jalen needs to work on his throwing over the middle.

When your QB is hesitant to throw over the middle, that limits you as a play caller. When your center is getting blown up on run plays causing TFL's that limits you as a play caller

One other thing, the Eagles led the league in 3 and outs on offense they also were one of the worst at getting 3 and outs on defense. That plays hand in hand. Down in distance is so important in the game of football. Fangio has to tightened up those zones more and play less scared. They played scared yesterday after that first drive. So many times this year they had teams pinned within the 5 yard line and they let them out, get a few first downs and now they are punting from their 35 and they turn around and pin our offense. Who had to drive again. The defense and to a point the special teams has to be better at that next year. That is something they can work on though. It was a really young defense that at times Fangio was afraid to take off the training wheels.

Jake Elliot is another problem that is not being talked about enough. Again its hard to call plays when you can't trust your kicker and lets be honest they didn't trust their kicker. Dallas lose, he missed a FG, Bears lose missed FG and Extra Point, Chargers loss missed FG, Yesterday missed an extra point. All of those missed kicks contributed to things. Especially when you go back to my point on the 3 and outs. Its hard for teams to drive 80 yards every drive. But they can drive 40 and 50 yards to get points. Elliot probably should have been cut early on. He probably does get cut with a June 1st designation to spread out the cap hit.

just want everyone to see the entire picture, folks are too focused on one area. An area by the way was weakened because we won a super bowl.

                Nick stays
                KP gone
                Goddert gone
                Hurts stays
                AJ stays

Now the real question is on defense to be honest with you!
Nakobe is probably gone! Reed is 50/50 Phillips is interested because he wasn't dominating at all but played well. I could see a bunch of teams offering more money. I honestly would not be surprised if the 1st round pick is a pass rusher! The OLINE has to be addressed as well. Maybe Lane retires. Cam is on a leash this year. He was brutal! Steen is going back to the bench.
personally I think they should be rid of McKee as well and ride with Sam Howell and a rookie QB as Jalen's back up. This year could be a huge year for Jalen too!

Dickerson said he battled multiple injuries this year and IMO this was the cause for a lot of
                  our problems.
I don’t think he was the only lineman who had injury concerns this year
We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

                    Sirriani 0%
                    Patulo 100%
                    AJ 75 %
                    Hurts 0%
                    Goedert 50%

siriani will def be back. But someone needs to hire an OC for him. Would love someone older who doesn’t have HC aspirations. Maybe Monken?

Patulo. Not all his fault. But history with Nick and bad numbers dictate a need to go. I’m starting to be worried that a lot is on Jalen. Including the OLine adjustments and standing and pointing and wasting time. But we are stuck with Jalen. Would love to hear Stouts thoughts on the OLine pre snap. I mean, why the fuck is Steen tapping Cam before the snap, at home? Only to run the most obvious play?

AJ has to go. Still a good player but declining and killing culture. It’s not going to be easy. Because of the cap hit it will be post June 1. We will have to eat some. We will get a 2nd or worse. O was about the same without him this year.

Hurts. 0%. While I think he is a huge part of the blame. We are tied to him. He has to be better. Brady wants us to go quicker. But I think Jalen is the reason we don’t. He seemingly likes to look like he sees things pre snap. But rarely does it lead to success. He needs help and clearly is not getting it from current coaching. Who all seemed to enjoy the fools gold of the previous year.

Goedert 50%. Will all come down to money and what other teams are willing to pay. He’s 31. Big money should not be expected. But he’s a FA and someone might.

huge off season for this team.

Agree mm. Injury to both Jurgens and Dickerson have been present since training camp. If it is fixable with off season surgery then they need to get that done. If it is degenerative or something they live with Howie needs to be looking for replacement. Maybe that is Kendall.
Interesting point about Kalen and line adjustments. I wonder what his faith is in Jurgens compared to Kelce.

Taz I agree with spreading the blame out. I'd say its about 50% Patullo/Nick, 30% Jalen, 15% offensive line, 5% the WRs (AJ).

The thing that convinces me that it is Patullo is what I am hearing from ex players. I have said this before. I know football but I know it 1% of what an ex player or coordinator knows it. If I can look pre snap at a formation and with a greater than 75% likelihood know what direction the ball is going on a run play that is a HUGE problem. And I could this year. We were tipping plays with alignment. And on the RPO Jalen hardly ever kept it. That could be on Jalen but at some point doesn't Nick need to say... KEEP THE DAMN BALL AND RUN IT JALEN.

And if Jalen refuses to keep the ball to hold the backside, then do something different. Motion Jalen out and let Saquon take the direct snap and run the RPO with Saquon and Tank Bigsby just to give the defense a different look. Saquon is a great athlete. If you practice something like that, you are going to be able to run it. The lack of putting Tank and Saquon on the field at the same time. The lack of not putting the team in a power formation at least some of the time with a FB... that shit drove me crazy.

Kurt Warner, Orlovsky and Nick Foles have now all broken down the final drive. Orlovsky points out that we ran the same play from flipped formation have the time on the final drive. No doubt the 4 verts across that we run a lot had option routes but to have zero variety in your base play called is insane. Nick also pointed out that on the final play of the game that was a play you run in preseason with the scrubs in there and they ran it on the most important play of the year. And it appeared Jalen didn't like the play call. That is not what you want.

Nick said in the Chicago playoff win... throw to Golden Tate... Doug asked him what he wanted to run. That was HIS play call. I don't care if Jalen is not the football knowledge guy that Nick is which is being suggested. He has played QB in a pro system since Alabama. That is 9 years in a pro style offense at least. He gets to have some input. He gets to suggest plays. What he doesn't get to do is NOT run the ball on an RPO. Or tell the coaches he doesn't want to throw over the middle. Or tell the coaches he always wants to roll back to the right. And if that is who Jalen is always going to be it is going to be very easy to not resign him after next year.

Jalen is ON THE CLOCK next year. I think Daboll is going to get the call. If Jalen doesn't deliver with all things being equal... meaning no rash of OL or skill player injuries. No injury to Jalen. Nothing crazy... if Jalen doesn't produce. Go get another QB.

You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

I know Jalen does 600lb squats or some such thing but does anyone think all those tush pushes hindered his running now? Those pushes had to be tough on the bodies of him and others. Maybe Jurgens.

NoDak... Jalen does not look nearly as fast now as he looked 3-4 years ago. When he runs now it looks like a lumbering sort of run not a swift 4.6 guy running which was what he came into the league at. He ran a 4.59 at the combine in 2020. That is NOT what I see on tape. So I think its very likely he has gotten too heavy or the hits have taken a toll. He needs to NOT be afraid of contact. If he is that powerful than use it. Josh Allen runs over guys. Jalen is not as tall but has the same body type. Use it.

Jalen just doesn't have the burst that he used to and that's most likely why they don't run him so much. The quarterback draw was a huge part of the offense in 2024 but we didn't see any of it until the end of the season this year.
