  • Good Spadaro Article - Who takes the big next step? (Year 2)

I tend to believe Stewart Bradley is going to be a beast. I also think we may be very happy with Tony Hunt.

So who makes the big leap in year 2 to a very good to great young starter for the Birds? I included Winston Justice in here too because I think Tra is on borrowed time and Winston is going to have poop or get off the pot.

I picked VA. I think he's really going to come on this coming year. I don't know about sack totals but I think he will be really disruptive.

I went with Bradley. The only reason though is just based on what he did the last couple of games. Not much else. Definitely encouraging to see him step in and make some big hits, big tackles along the goal line and pick one off. Seems to have a nose for the ball.

      Excited about Victor as well.

The other three guys...Hunt, Kolb and Justice....SHOULDN'T and hopefully wont see the field that much. If they do that's probably not a good sign since the guys in front are all pretty darn important. If Hunt gets carries that would be great, but I actually would love to see Buck get more time and carries this season.

I'm expecting Bradley......but you know what, I'm hoping more for Reggie Brown to take a big step forward next year too, even more, even though he's not a Year 2 guy. Here's hoping that a healthier DMac was a big part of the reason why his production took off as the season went along.

A healthier LJ will mean less catches for the WR's, but you know what, if we don't sign a free agent WR, we need the WR's that we already have to step up. Reggie most of all, but I'll toss Baskett and Avant in there for good measure too. Drafting for a WR won't help, not for a couple of years.

VA and Bradley neck and neck.

I don't wanna see that much of Justice or Kolb, that means bad things are happening.

            Celek ? dunno.

Hunt? Dunno I would like to see what he could do, he needs to be a great blocker if he wants to unseat Bucky at this point, i don't think it's his running ability that worries anyone.

Celek should be on that list instead of Kolb. DMAC is going to play all year.

I selected Bradley, but really, we need VA to play well too. And he will.

If VA, Bradley, Colson and the safeties play well this year, that should propel this D back into the top 10.

BTW- I did vote for VA, but only cause I had to pick just one.

Celek? I mean what is his upside potential? Someday he may be a Chad Lewis type if we're really lucky.

I picked Bradley. He could be domiant by the end of 2008. Celek would get consideration if LJ wasn't still on the roster. But he is. And that is fortunate since it doesn't look like we will be able to upgrade the WR position. I see Celek playing well in 2009 when LJ is gone. But I don't see him getting much playing time in 2008 since we don't use a 2-TE formation that much.

Hopefully, McNabb, Brown and Curtis will get to spend more time together this offseason and during camps. It seems like Brown improved as he got more familiar with McNabb and McNabb got healthier. Reggie has been with the Eagles for 3 years. But he hadn't played that much with McNabb before last season.

                            Certainly gut feels but
Kolb = A Rogers behind Favre-- doesn't see the field.
Justice also spends the year learning as Runyan/Tra handle the wokload all year.
Bradley sees time but no big splash this year IMHO.
Celek and Hunt are my choices. Celek sees a lot of time toward the end of the year as he becomes the best TE the birds have while LJ gets little PT as he sees the end of his franchise tag year go away. Hunt steps out and beats Buck in head to head comp to be the 'other' Eagles RB.
Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
                            Hope is not a strategy
