  • Happ Hap Happy

So glad they didn't let this guy go.

Another great start..... Lee, Blanton and Happ in the play offs?

If Happ is moved to the BP and Moyer left in the rotation when Pedro comes up, Cholly is going to have to answer to me.

No one could justify that move.

Happ just made a LOUD statement. Four hit SO against the hot Rockies, stopping a 3 game slide by the Phils.

In any world where 2+2=4, this kid stays right where he is.

Question: Did Cholly let him throw 127 pitches so he could get his CG SO(most likely)...or is Cholly thinking Happ can throw some extra pitches tonight 'cause he won't be starting in another 5 days.

He's turning into a hell of a pitcher. No way they move him anywhere. He's been the most consistant pitcher on the squad with the possible exception of Blanton.

I don't care how "temporary" the move to the pen is, Happ absolutely has to stay in the rotation. Do something else with Moyer. Put Pedro in the pen. But keep Happ in there!1!!!!11!!

My heart and my brain say he HAS to stay in the starting rotation.

But my gut sez Cholly moves him to the pen, especially after Pedro strikes out 9 of the first 12 he faced. And Moyer is not going to the pen.

Moyer can't go to the pen. He should be dfa'd, IMO. Or they should go to a six-man rotation.

I think they'll let Moyer start on Sunday and see how he fares. If he doesn't pitch well, I think he simply gets skipped in the rotation the next go 'round. It will strain the bullpen some and they'll handcuff themselves by not relegating him to the pen but I think he stays in the dugout and it a lame duck. While I've said I see Happ going to the pen, they can't do that after last night.

the good news - Moyer is lights out vs. the Marlins.

The bad news - he sucks at CBP.

Suggestion: Wear very, VERY, VERY, dark glasses.

I'm hoping Moyer will respond to Happ's masterpiece with a crafty gem of his own, making management's decision all the more difficult.

I feel badly for Moyer in this situation. He is a good man in the broad sense of the word. His dedication to his profession is apparently equaled by his work outside baseball. His efforts on behalf of a wide range of children in need go well beyond the lip service many pro athletes give to 'their' PR-team-arranged charities.

I'm hoping that Jamie will know when it's time and will bow out gracefully.
