That happens sometimes. When the Mets bought out the last year of Bobby Bonilla's contract a few years back, they agreed to pay him $29.8 million instead of $5.9 million, but it was all deferred. Bonilla starts getting that money in 2011 and won't receive the entire sum until 2035 -- when he'll be 73 years old.
Bonilla's salary for his last season was deferred for 12-36 years at an 8 percent annual interest rate. He will receive 25 equal payments of $1,193,248.20 each July 1 from 2011 to 2035, according to the revised contract, a total of $29,831,205.
Don't kid yourself Jimmy. If a cow ever got the chance, he'd kill you and everyone you cared about!
