  • It is gonna be Kolb and we are gonna be fine

Kevin Kolb is going to start next week. Now, Feeley and/or Garcia...probably Feeley... will be holding a clipboard with helmet at the ready but Kolb is gonna play and here is why.

Kolb is in his third year and the Iggles have put a lot of money, time and most important ego in him. He is a guy that AR put his seal of approval on and said is the guy when McNabb is done. Now, McNabb is not gonna be done for another 3 to 4 years it looks like but even then Kolb is still under 30 years old and would have 5 or 7 years of good play on him similar to Steve Young so AR is comfortable with letting him watch for 5 or 6 years.

But, AR needs to get an accurate read on the kid and here is the perfect scenario. The next 4 games are New Orelans, Kansas City and Tampa at home at Oakland on the road. Based on what I saw today, I have no reason to think that even if McNabb misses all those games the Iggles won't go 3-1. KC and Tampa are TERRIBLE and Oakland isn't much better and besides dodging batteries Oakland doesn't really have a homefield advantage. New Orleans would appear to be the team the Iggles will have the most trouble with in the next 5 weeks.

So, Kolb starts next week. What must he do? Well, he probably needs to score 30 points or more. Matt Stafford put up 27 on the Saints this week in his first game as a Lion with a terrible OL, a so-so running back and a freak at WR. The Iggles offensive skills players are WAY better than what the Lions run out there and our offensive line is far better. Kolb will get an entire week to practice with the first team offense. He will get to line up behind the first team OL and throw to Desean Jackson and hand the ball off to Westbrook. He will move it. Maybe not as well as McNabb, but he will move it. Will he make some mistakes... yes, but so does McNabb.

As for the Saints, they put up 45 points. GREAT... good for them. The Lions were 0-16 last year and are TERRIBLE on defense in particular. Quick, name a Lions defensive player. Neither can I.

The Saints are gonna score some points. Absolutely, Drew Brees is a very good QB but they aren't gonna come into the Linc and go off and score 40. It just ain't gonna happen. Brees is gonna get his A$$ blitzed off, the Saints run game will have nowhere near the success against our front 7 that they did against the Lions and with this secondary I think we can contain their WRs as good as anybody in the league.

One more thing to mention. The Iggles players have got to be tired of the Saints. They lost to them twice in a year 2 years ago and both times had to play in that danm dome. The second time, in the playoffs, we had them beat until the phantom penalty on Scott Young.

So my prediction for next week it this. The Iggles come out with a playbook heavy on the run game and stuff it down the friggin Saints throats. They run for about 225 yards, Kolb throws for like 175, makes a few mistakes, but gets enough done to keep the Saints honest. Brees has his moments but the Iggles have too much depth in the front 7 and too many CRAZED fans at the Linc to beat us.

    Eagles 33
    Saints 24

I'm calling it. We are due to beat these guys and Kolb is gonna be the guy to do it.
You know Darren if you'd have told me 10 years ago that someday I was going to solve the world's energy problems I'd have said your crazy.... now lets drop this big ball of oil out the window.

I agree that no matter what some fans may think or want....if McNabb does not go Kolb will be the starter.

I do think we can still beat the Saints. Brees was sick today but he was aided by some sick catches and a terrible defense. He also hung a few balls that a good D would have been all over.

I "think" we can win....but more along the lines of 27-20. It has to be alot of Westbrook, McCoy, Jackson, and Celek. Safe football with alot of movement and use of speed. Kolb is not a deep threat so you can be sure the Saints would cheat up to the line

It figures...I pony up for tickets in section 122 just 10 rows back for this game...and I might not get to see Donovan.

The coaching staff obviously sees something in Kolb during practice, that we have not seen during his limited action. The Kolb that I see rignt now has the look of a turnover machine waiting to happen. His lack of pocket awareness is going to result in a lot of blindside fumbles. I cringe every time he takes those deep drops.

With that being said, I am convinced that Kolb would be a better fit for this offense rignt now, even if Vick was allowed to play. I don't really care for Vick the QB when he is at the top of his game. Right now, Vick is very rusty.

The Eagles need to see what Kolb can do. They will get their chance next weekend against a Saints defense that is nothing special.

I feel sorry for Kolb if he stinks up the joint on Sunday. The fans will be absolutely brutal.
