That catch was awesome. It reminded me an Antonio Freeman catch from long ago. It's nice to see an area of concern from last year turn into an area of strength this year. Now let's lock him up for the next 4-5 years.Official Driver of the Eagles Bandwagon!!!

Dang. I missed this thread yesterday and wanted to make a Weaver comment.
I agree with everyone that Weaver was a terrific pickup. But, I am really concerned about getting him signed next year.
Correct me if I am wrong. But, I thought that the 1-year signing was Weaver's choice and not the Eagles. I believe that Weaver was the one who wanted to showcase his talents, so that he could get a bigger contract in a potentially uncapped year. Because Weaver has been a stud for us, I can see him being a highly sought after free agent in the offseason. That is going to make things difficult if there is a bidding war.
If the franchise player tag is an option, we may have to use it. Here is a question though. From a franchise tag perspective, I think that a FB is classified as a RB. If that is the case, Weaver would get the average of the top 5 running backs in the NFL. That is a lot of money to throw at a FB.

Well if it was Weaver's idea to go with a 1 year deal I hope whatever money they do throw at him is done completely with rolls of nickles!Official Driver of the Eagles Bandwagon!!!

I'm glad they listened to me, lol! They guy is awesome. We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. They're caring, their character, they do the right thing persistently, and they have a relentless playing style that you can see on tape. The motor, it burns hot. You see them finishing plays. They have a team-first mentality. They're selfless individuals.

Boy, talk about a signing that turned out exactly the way everyone hoped. Weaver has been dynamite at the fullback position - we have NEVER seen this kind of stuff in Reid's offense before. Weaver is a true football player - the kind of player this town falls for hard.
But I don't think he's got the juice to be a true running back. Weaver's got a ton of power and decent open field speed for a big guy, but he doesn't have a lot of wiggle (ever see him make any lateral moves in these runs?) and would probably have trouble getting to the line from the deep back position.
I really, really hope the Eagles sign him but I honestly wonder if they will. We've seen how Reid is with fullbacks, they're totally fungible to him. But then again, he's never had a guy who could do this.

With Westy having knee ,ankle and now head issues it is now more important than ever to have depth behind him. Sign Weaver now, it will only get more expensive the longer you wait. We're looking for people that are fundamentally different,” vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl said Saturday night. “The love and passion for football, it's non-negotiable. IMK, I can only hope that you are dreadfully wrong about Reid in this. I think Reid at this point is seeing what Weaver can do, and is simply dreaming up new ways to use this legit weapon that he is not used to having. And planning to keep it as part of the long term "plan".http://shop.cafepress.com/content/global/img/spacer.gifOK, let's try this again...

Don't think they have the cap room right now, this will have to be an off season deal, I think.

I'd be shocked if Weaver isn't locked up long term this off season. Andy is just scratching the surface of what this guy can do.Stand for the flag you assholes!

Teams will woo him as, I assume, he will be the premier FB available in the off season. I'm not sure what the top FB commands as far as cash goes but he will want to have that or damn close I would suspect. That should be achievable from the birds since top FB salaries can't be that high. I think it should come down to how the Eagles play (everyone wants to be on a good team that competes deep into the playoffs) and how he is used (everyone wants to be part of the game). Let's hope Andy & Co keep him involved in the game plan.Wait until next year is a terrible philosophy
Hope is not a strategy

I saw a nice lateral move on the one-handed catch and run, but usually he just drives it right up the gut. Which I dont mind at all.Don't kid yourself Jimmy. If a cow ever got the chance, he'd kill you and everyone you cared about!

Get's dicey if he wants to get paid as a tailback.......and a larger role as a tailback. I am sure hoping we can work this out. I was more concerned early in the season when he wasn't getting much opportunity. But hopefully he contnues to be a significant part of the game plan and he becomes happy with his role and really wants to stay and be part of it.http://shop.cafepress.com/content/global/img/spacer.gifOK, let's try this again...
