Maybe it's my strong bias against anything connected with Dallas or perhaps it's my distrust of Showman Jones and some of his 'bigger than life football stars', but I'm thinking Demarcus Ware has certainly made a remarkable recovery from his near death experience Sunday afternoon in Jerry's pleasure dome.
We started with a nation watching breathlessly as a member of 'America's Team' is attended to by an army of medical people as he lay motionless on the turf. After an extended period of time and the implementation of every precautionary measure known to medicine, Ware is carefully raised on a gurney where he can be seen by all. The fallen warrior gallantly raises first one thumb (to reassure the Dallas faithful) and then both thumbs, followed by both arms and both legs, followed finally by shaking all 4 limbs simultaneously.
What a brave young man! A grateful nation can breathe again.
Initial reports have Ware out at least for the season with a potentially serious neck/spinal injury. Miraculously, less than 2 hours later, Ware is released from the hospital with the report that a 'neck sprain' will cause him to miss at least the next 2 games. (This apparently was on of those serious neck/spinal injuries that did not require the standard overnight observation). By Monday morning, that's down to 1 game missed. By Monday afternoon, Ware has been rehabilitated to the point where he will probably be able to play Saturday night:
So says coach Wade Phillips, according to Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas.com.
"He's actually a lot better today," Phillips said of Ware. "He's really in a day-to-day situation as far as where he's going to be as far as being able to play. He took quite a hit, but he's really bounced back really strong."
Aint modern science a grand!

(Only the most cynical of Dallas haters would be so unfeeling as to suggest that Ware had overplayed his hand. In any case, inspired by Ware's gallantry, the Dallas defense stiffened and forced San Diego to take 2 more plays to move 52 yards and score the winning touchdown!)
